Rifleman Archive
Thread: for all you struggling novice rifleman..
there is hope after all..
if you can withstand the monotony of killing the same thing over and over to rush through the rifleman tree do what ive been doing
i read it here in this forums
after first i was killing snorbals one by one using conceal which was horribly inefficient
then i read mindbleeds stack.
i have a macro that fires both and i literally dot an entire herd at once and if any shots miss i go back and apply the missed shots on different animals... after that.. hell i dont even have to shoot anymore...
just attack each creature normally a little to ensure you get the xp and run around and around and around until they all die...
every now and then i spam headshots to speed up the process using a dlt20 rifle which only takes 25 mind cost as compared to laser rifle and t21's .... i can spam headshot 3 all day at my current level 3 1 2 2 and barely drain my pool since my willpower is 900 (zabrak)
i usually target the elder of the group and spam him on headshots since his mind is a lot higher than matures
when all the animals are close to dead i go through each one to check if the bleeds are still in effect because if you fire at a snorbal that dies... and then try to shoot a new one.. you get stutter step... but at this point its advised to stop shooting or else stutter stepping goes into affect for some reason the game doesnt like you running and killing things without stopping
i keep my patience and wait until everything that will bleed to death does so and usually its the elder that holds out the longest and when its just me and him then i open up again and stutter step not worrying about the faster mature males which are dead already or so weak they give up the chase making sure i stay within 64m of everything ive been kiting as they like to scatter once they get really low.
this process i like to call snorbal genocide is so incredibly efficient... ive gained 1.4 million rifle xp in 4 days
lok has been a bit empty as well so the aggros arent a concern as much anymore so to make the process even easier i like to set a perimeter around the lair of 4waypoints in a sqaure, each 75 m from the lair to ensure i dont run too far away and racetrack around and around using said technique..
here's a few appends to my post
i also group up with my weakest non ch pet and then order it to stay somewhere safe back in nym's usually near the cloning terminal
i experimented and it indeed is true you get more xp grouped than just alone
my DLT20 is 158-258 sliced and spamming headshot3 which you can with such a low mindcost weapon i average hits between 600-1000 ROCK SOLID unlike the laser rifle with its potentially low sorry numbers and double the mind cost.
if you avoid stutter step near the end of the bleeds they should NEVER get too close to you and if in fact you do find yourself close to getting beat on unequip your weapon at the last second and just run straight until you put some distance again... i keep my weapons on my toolbars and at the same time i have two macros to either equip my war gear (full armor comp) or swap back to to normal clothing. i equip the armor and unequip my weapon and the snorbal only hits for 150'ish as compared to 800 with me holding a rifle.
i just heal myself on the run using my nice stim b's and find a nice hill to put more distance and then remove the armor and equip my gun again which will give me stutter step..
Also the higher you go on the rifleman line the more xp you will get, you will end up getting a little over 4k for elders.
well i always group with my doggy (wrix) and keep him somewhere safe for the group bonus xp to my kills and i average 4500 rifle i think for elder males and 400 ish combat
for matures its 4100 i think and 360 or so... really should keep track of those numbers...
but anyways lets put it this way... ive been grinding snorbals on lok so hard for the past 5 days and have made 2.1 million rifle xp in that short amount of time... im almost a master rifleman .. right now im 4 1 3 2 but very close to 4 1 3 3 ... 5 freakin days...
ive been working in similar way (pet in safe place are countless mouse droids - till i got them in safe place)
but ran into a few snags - wonder if any masters can shed some light on this
got through sniping fairly fast by working the more dangerous banthas outside mos taike, at early stages i was getting
feral bantha 1k exp approx per kill
dune banthas 1.2k exp per kill
but as im going up one skill at a time ive noticed a great reduction in the exp i get from ferals, and dune banthas
ive had to progress onto grizzled dewbacks (killing the normal dewback 1st for the agro - the rest a single attacks) mind bleed mind bleed , warning shot , warning shot etc - with a high damage T21 (post patch) and switching over to a E11 speed model for the extra warning shots.
its too late for me now - but have others noticed this reduction in exp granted from kills as they advance in the skill trees one at a time?

This is a nice post man, i too gained alot of xp on lok especially hunting snorbals. Only pronlem is that you get to the stage where you would rather get mauled by a rancor than see another Snorbal. Great way to grind xp though, just think its damaging to a persons mental health! ![]()

explain how you cant die while you have like 10 snorbals running at you??
how i can't die with 10 snorbals running at me?
simple.. strategy and management... if a snorbal chasing you has less than 1000 mind left and is still bleeding why keep shooting at it? the key is to constantly target the strongest one because if your shooting at one and it dies on you while you have it targeted you STOP to shoot the killing blow and then STOP to shoot a new target and on top of that if you shoot at a snorbal about to die it stops chasing and then you have to tighten the circle to keep it wthin the 64m range or you lose the xp... now if follow my advice and ignore the near death ones not only do they chase you until their death and give you the xp but you wont stop because your just running and gunning a stronger one anyways...
now occasionally you do get the ones that break off the chase and really all you do is while shooting at a strong one... target the stray one to monitor your distance and make the big circle around him... until he falls and then back to the big circle after that...
another append to my post for my secondary weapon i just picked up a sweet e11 rifle which i sliced to 106-209 5.0s and the great thing is its medium armor peircing! with a mind cost of 35 over my dlt20s 25 its worth it to be able to shoot stronger headshots...
and also ive been noticing that mindshot 1 just doesnt last as long as 2 does and when a lot of the snorbals are nearing the 1/4 mark left on their mind ive been reapplying mindshot 1 which also ensures they all bleed to death.. ive had a bunch stop bleeding literally less than 500 from death which is annoying..
