Thread: How long does a duel last?

Hmm. Thats a pain. I really wanted the chance for people to play in a 'stealth' mode.

Is there any other way for this to work? I thought about placing another guild and having the people split by guild, then starting a guild war. I guess that would work. We are all in the same faction as well.

Hi guys, I don't do a lot of duelling so I'm hoping you can help.

I am organising a guild event that involves splitting the guild in half and having one side fight the other. To achieve this each player on a team will need to 'duel' each player on the opposite side (not a problem as they are both small teams ofno morethan 5 people). After the duels are set each team will split to opposite ends of a city and the battle will commence (I've built a load of rules in to control exploits and overpowerful professions).

My question is, do the duels stick until both players do /endduel (or /peace?). Will my battle last as I want it to - perhaps for up to an hour or more - or will the duel 'wear off' if there is a certain distance between 2 players or if a certain time passes?

Thanks.

I've done this once before (not organized, but participated in). I believe it was after 5 minutes that the duels started to time out if no one had fired a shot by then. As far as I know, the duels should continue as long as everyone has fired at or been fired upon by someone.
To test it, just challenge a friend and do nothing. When it times out, you'll know what you have to work with. I just wouldn't recommend any sort of hide and go seek sort of event.

Yeah, that sounds like the best plan. I dunno if the whole 'guild war' system is working as intended yet though...

Sheeesh it shouldn't be this hard. I have one bunch of people that want to fight another bunch of people without outside 'influence' and there is no simple way to do it. Even the guild thing poses problems. I will have to get the 3 or 4 people on my team to quite the guild. I would then have to place the guild, get everyone membership, declare the war then redeed the hall after it's finished (otherwise i'll lose it due to there being less than the minimum needed to maintain a guild).

SOE, if you're listening, is there a better way for me to run this? Our guild is really keen to do it as it's original content for us that we control. We have defined the rules to balance professions as best possible and have created objectives. If it works well for us I'd ike to open the event up a little bit but I would like to iron out problems before doing this.
