So, I'm a master rifleman right now and had a quick question. I'd love to reclaim the points I've spent on master marksman and the pistol and carbine tracks. Would giving up the +10 speed/+5 accuracy from MM make a difference?
Thanks!
Thanks!

keep it if you can - at master, firing a 7.5 sec t21 with strafe2 you'll only fire at 2.something secs - with the +5 speed from master marksmen this is cut to about 1.25 or something - almost at cap - big difference!

Correct, giving up master marksmen will slow you by about 50% - a big speed hit. Rifleman is one of the few professions that gains a big advantage by mastering the lower level entry profession. I would suggest getting +7 in rifle speed in AES before giving up master marksmen

Thanks for the advice guys. After this, and scanning the previous messages (which I should have done first -- thanks for not flaming me), I've decided to keep master marksman. If I can find some speed tapes then I'll drop it, but not before that.
As an aside, like some others had mentioned here, I hunted last night (jantas/mokks) for the first time as master rifleman, and the difference between 4/4/3/4 and master is incredible. While previously, I could easily single pull, I always had to deal with each one at point blank range before they were dead. Now, they're down before they even agro, and my fire rate is unbelievable. This is by far the highest dps ranged profession I've played -- I'm definitely sticking with it!
Thanks again guys!

Sorry for the evidently bad advice there. I need to understand the numbers better. :-)

No worries. I thought the exact same thing until I spent an hour or so reading through the messages here. But what really clinched it for me was this link, it's awesome. I'd highly recommend a bookmark

I adivise you to check out the "swg damage calculator"
I have Master Marksman, and I'm not giving it up unitl I get a +5 or +10 Rifle speed attachment.
Going from +90 rifle speed to +95 rifle speed doubles your Damage per Second.

One step ahead -- got to the dps calc last night. That, combined with the advice here, have convinced me to stick with MM at least until I can match the speed bump with tapes.
Thanks!

Yup. Same here. With master Marksman I can pull off Strafe Shot 2 once per second, those Jantas never even see it coming

From what I've seen(I'm still only novice rifleman, myself)and from information I've gathered from long time rifleman, the speed and accuracymultipliers you get in Master Rifleman are so incredible that you will hardly miss(or not miss at all)any of the stat modifiers from the rest of the marksman profession tree. The only segment you may want to keep is the Ranged Support so that your marksman tree is 0/0/0/4. The rest you should be able to dump with no worries.
