Hi all im a smuggler by trade and im not really a huge fan of the typical tk/pistoleer/smuggler type combos. been trying out swordsman but in my head a melee smuggler just doesnt fit the image.
So was thinking about the ranged professions and realised i'd never tried out rifleman. in the past when i've done rifles 4 in marksman its been a a bit of a pain because one shot and the mobs come running and of course the accuracy up close is nasty(as it should be for rifles). So i was wondering what sort of advice would you give to someone to help them level up before they get to that conceal shot stage.
the reason i say conceal shot is,after some reading around here, it seems once you get this its relativly easy to take on mobs then and that then takes you upto the AE type shots which are the riflemans real power.
Where is a good spot to hunt to work on the marksman bits, novice rifleman, and the first box to get conceal shot? what sort of things would you recommend hunting?
if something does charge me down at these lower levels what advice do you offer? and at the higher levels what do you do if something charges you down?
thanks in advance
Get a pet/droid tank for the easiest way. Also make sure you group with it for the XP bonus. Use a Laser Rifle until you hit Novice Rifleman. Then use a speed sliced T21.
As for what to hunt. I would suggest anything you can take on comfortably. I've done Torturs on Talus. One trick with them is to lead them as they chase you towards Grufs (sp?) and Kima's in the area. They will start fighting each other so you can use them as a bit of a tank.
Quenkers are popular also on Dantooine. Actually lots of things on Dant are popular. But it's going to depend on if you have armor and buffs.
If something gets close you have a couple options. You can BurstRun to put some distance between you. Other option is to keep trying to hit it, or you could use a PointBlankSingle attack which will improve your to hit some what. You could also use the /Aim command but that will mean your shot takes twice as long to go off. Best bet is not to let them get close. Use a tank to hold them at distance.
