Medic 4/0/0/0 is a no brainer for the healing of injuries. What else do I need? Pharmacology is not really practical to me because I'm not going to be making the stims myself, unless this isa good idea. Diagnostics? I'm just wondering.

Ehh.....Ill take Pharm IV overany other treepersonally. Using Stim E's is hawt, and you dont drain your mind from hitting Stim B's over and over again. Just pop a single stim E and you are back on top. But thats just my suggestion. I have tried each of the trees other than O-chem (which is what I think you meant when you posted about Pharm not being practical). I dont make my own stims...I just buy a crate of Stim E's every once and a while. Lasts forever. But yeah, once I tasted the goodness that is Stim E's during battle, I will never go back to stim B's. Right now I am medic 1140.
Just my two cents.

Novice medic or master it on the way to doc skills. There is little need for in-between in my opinion unless you have some random left over skill points. If you are going to spend skills in just 1 medit tree, I recommendthe medine use line, such as0040, in order to be able to use up left over skill points and to use high powered stims which can be a nice feature at times. Getting 4000 for the wound healing is unnecessary -when you're healing wounds you're not in a hurry and the extra realized healing % from each pack is much less benefit than you'd get from spending the skill points on being able to use nicer wound packs or on other combat skills.

2-0-0-0 is very nice for first aid so you can heal bleads which can stack up in pve
0-0-4-0 is also very nice or even just 0-0-3-0 can be good for high stim packs
i prefer to go 2-0-3-0 and that is what i have right now

I'm 2-1-3-0 with my left over skills. The x-x-3-x lets me use Stim C's and the 2-x-x-x boost them to about 1100 point heals. The x-1-x-x was just left a cuple left over SP and let's me heal a bit faster to get back SS2ing my foe.

When I was advancing Rifleman tree and had more skill points I was medic 2034 and crafted 1000 Stim C's for the future. Then I dropped medicine crafting so now I'm medic 2030. With that I can use First Aid and Stim C's. Never gonna give them up, they have saved my skin many times.

I'm pretty much in with the Stim C crowd. My alt is a master BE, so she can make fair stim C's.
And with my pets, the doubling up on pet healing is nice. Pet Stims and Med Stims - alternating. My 13k HAM cats can get back into the action easily.
As for myself, I generally don't buff unless I happen to see a short line... A bit of brandy does fine for a rifleman.
If I get shot it's generally my fault for not paying attention. Generally when doing credit missions, I only have my cat out to guard and to help take out the lairs. I rarely need to heal except for the strength/action ham costs.
So I'm 2/1/3/0 medic as well.
