I don't follow this stuff, nor pretend to understand it, but my name and titles seem to change pretty often.

My forum name is orange now, and now I am a Squad Leader. Last week or so I was another color and a Pilot.

I'm getting more work done here than in the game, evidently!

Will I get 'Forum Initiate' soon? Do I get an alternate Forum ID if I do?

Everyone with a forum registration date of 7/8/03(yours) and earlier should have that title(or 'rank') now. You also need a minimum number of posts, but it's fairly low. The star ratings can also affect it to an extent, but that's just mostly adding another little icon next to your title. They still don't do anything as far as I know
