Go prone does not prevent visibility, it only increases your modifiers while making you more vulnerable to melee attack.
Going prone and using Conceal Shot will help keep you from being visible and being agro'd. You want to stay about 60 meters away, go prone, and then use Conceal Shot and only Conceal Shot. If you use any other shot other than Conceal Shot, you will be discovered and agro'd.
I can use Conceal Shot at 60 meters and pick off multiple targets without ever being agro'd. It is a great skill that allows a rifleman to solo some really tough targets with very little risk.

Yup, default attack from prone has been knackered since Publish 11.

I hadn't realized that the default attack had been nerfed since Publish 11. I never use it while prone!

I don't think it's a nerf, but a bug. I originally thought it might be some new line of sight code, but as specials works, I guess it can't be.

going prone does more then increase accuracy mods and lowering melee defence. It seems to increase ranged defence.
as for prone/visibility it does affectit but in a minor sense - range and attack type are much more important for determing visibility to npcs
I can still fire 11-17 times prone with a regular attack before being detected.... (high speed)

Care to tell us how? I can't fire regular attacks whilst prone at all now, and even when it did work I only managed to fire 3-5 times before being detected.

Iv been doing this a lot latly, had to regrind rifleman with alt after main got jedi(wootly)
I get anywhere from 1-7 on pickets. Sometimes the first one has set em off, other times iv been able to drop em. *shrug* cant explain it, but it sure adds some spice having it random like that. Makes dropping one totaly concealed really cool. Btw this was using headshot2 prone+cover, not concealshot. Conceal can go forever if ya dont bleed or miss =).

range: 55+m
prone:
autofire
I shoot 1/sec
any different from you?
it also depends on the creature you shoot - some are smarter then others (after extensive testing) most character level 50+ creatures will detect you much sooner then lower character level creatures.
