I postedsomething similarin the game guide forum, but this question directly relates to Wookiees using Bowcasters, so I'm asking it here...
Do wookiees needmarksman orrifleman skills touse a Bowcaster? If not, does it mean theywill be a lousy shotwithout master rifleman? Or, if they do need skills, is it true that they can level in the skills they need with zero skill point cost strictly for the purpose of using Bowcasters & nothing else?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sure, it isn't your regular run-of-the-mill bowcaster (if such a thing even exists, given that wookiee WSs are so rare) but those weren't even superior tissues/bones, just basic ones.
I still wonder how a bowcaster would come out with capped resources and subcomponents enhanced with really good tissues and bones.
But then again, most people would consider this a waste of precious loot. I'd deem such a bowcaster worthy of an ADK though, but that's just me...

i just had 3 krayted/goraxed bowcasters made. Used 87 / -0.6 tissues and base gorax bones for them. They came out
4.3 speed
168 - 432 dam
36.8% wound
ranges
-30 : 0
+29 : 45
-80 : 64
HAM cost
H 52
A 52
M 64
Only had 1 sliced so far and got a 23% damage slice. 238 - 701 damage with pup.
Too bad with the AP 0 or it would really rock. Cant wait till AP goes away with the CU.

Thanks for the help guys! I have always contemplated making him a master weaponsmith too, but would a wookiee weaponsmith be able to create uber weapons? Or will they always be at a severe disadvantage to humans & Mon Cal's etc.? I know wookiees can wear crafting aprons now, but is that enough?

Us wookiees DON'T need Marksman or even Rifleman to use a bowcaster, it's a racial cert. But, you won't be able to go against mid-to-high-end stuff. It's good for 2 thing:
-pulling.
-powerleveling the Rifles tree of Marksman.
As a matter of fact, the latter is what I just did when retraining from Master Pikes to Rifleman. I used the 110 DPS (krayted and goraxed) bowcaster I crafted when I was a Master Weaponsmith. I think if bowcasters had AP, they could rival just about any rifle out there. My best bowcaster (speedsliced and speedpup'd)has a speed of 2.5 and around 200/350 Dmg, so Rifles I-IV was a breeze...

The Bowcaster is an innate cert for Wookiees. There are a number of innate weapon certs. These include the CDEF weapons, C12 grenades, and a number of melee weapons.
Which means you will be able to use the Bowcaster. However it is considered a Rifle so your speed and accuracy without Marksman or Rifle will be rather lacking. It will work. Just very poorly.
If you want the skills to use it more effectively and to use specials, you will have to spend skill points to do so just like everyone else.
