Ah, thanks for that info..
That makes a lot more sense and is how I imagined it was supposed to work.
As far as PvP, it seems useful for an element of surprise to get the first attack in. I also like that Rangers can track players under /cover. (We can currently track invisible CSRs if they're within 500m)

I posted in the rifles bug thread, so I apologize for starting a new thread, but I had some questions and didn't want to get off topic there.
It pertains to the new /cover ability - removal from radar and the "invisible" state. I've checked some other messages, but I'm still not quite sure about the limitations or function of this skill in PvP or PvE. I just got 1100 rifles on TCep3 today, and seemed to be bugged the first time I tried it:
My main question is, how is cover supposed to work or be broken/detected? I've seen mention of 15m detection.. I didn't seem to be able to cover when creatures/NPCS were around, but once I was /covered, nothing seemed to detect me, including players. It seems like changing from the /prone position should break /cover, but for me it didn't. These seems like an obvious bug, but I haven't seen mention of what exactly is "supposed" to break cover, if there's a time limit, or if you can choose to remove yourself from cover in some way (by using /cover again)... so I thought I'd ask.
I gotta say, it was great fun running around all over the place and being invisible
But something tells me that's not the intended function

- used /cover while prone and attacked several meatlumps with /snipershot.
- cover never broke (1100 rifles) as they spawned close to me
- got tired of killing and stood up, only to still be under /cover and translucent.
- I ran into Tyrena at the starport and asked, in spatial, if anyone could see me. No one answered, so I sent a tell to someone and he said he did not see me standing in front of him. I ran around for about 10-15 minutes and /cover never broke.
- Tried going /prone to use /cover again to see if it would uncover me (like /conceal or /maskscent) but nothing worked.
- Was unable to see if this carried over to another city/planet, as I crashed when using the starship travel terminal

/cover is broken right now on TC, which is why you're able to run around invisible- it's been reported. Eith eryou ge perma-invisible (as you describe), or it doesnt' stop mobs from aggroing you and running right up. Either way, not working as intended.
In general, it's supposed to work like this:
Changing from prone will break cover
Firing other than /concealshot, /improvedconcealshot or /snipershot will break cover
Firing one of the above specials may break cover, with an increasing chance the more you fire (don't know whether this is in, but it should be)
A person or creature moving within 15m of you (or vice-versa, since you can crawl while still under /cover) will break cover
Apparently, you can only enter /cover when you are a good distance (64m?) from another player, droid or vehicle.
In PVP, the other element to consdier is particle effects - people can see your laser bolts, and trace them back to their source. A low-visibility weapon like the Tusken Rifle becomes much more valuable in this scenario...
Also in PVP, players can currently target you even under cover by typing /target (playername) - this is a bug. Rangers can also find you using /areatrack. This is not a bug.

I tested this on Gorath testcenter today and not only was I perma invisible I also was aggroed by the Faction mob I was attacking. Maybe thye were just firing in my general direction tracking my laser bolts? Anyway I stayed perma invisible and could not Harvest bone/meat/hide although I could still loot. I also could not get oon my bike or take the shuttle!
This needs to be fixed like right now. This is basically a useless special atm.

I don't think you can fix it. Once you are perma invisible you stay that way and cannot go anywhere except by foot and also cannot gte off planet. In other words once you are perma invisible you are stuck!

By /logging out, and staying logged out I could manage to fix it for me.
Whatever you do, DO NOT RUN AROUND INVISIBLE on TC. By running around invisible, you will ensure that people crash all around you. So just don't use /cover up until SOE has fixed it in the year 2026.
