Read up on the issue.

Damage per second is not guaranteed. It's an estimate. In fact, it's a deceptive estimate because ofa fewthings:

Damage done is *not* random, but rather based on the max-damage of the weapon and the special attack used.

Hitting is a random thing; not all shots hit, and estimated DPS is calculated assuming that all shots hit.

eDPS is based on the speed of the weapon, which, considering that the speed cap is now two seconds, leads to a calculation error when the weapon speed is lower than 2 seconds.

My conclusion is that you ignore eDPS entirely, and just look at Max Damage and speed.

DPS is a guide, no more. 2 weapons can have the same DPS, yet one is slower and hits harder, and the other is faster, but hits softer. It depends how you use it.

I believe (and I may be complete wrong in this) that specials always take the same length of time to complete. Which means that the DPS becomes null and void for nuking - you want the hardest hitting gun you can lay your hands on (though be prepared to pay for it with SAC). At least this works for nuking (adv. sniper, stopping shot, head shot, critical shot, head shot, critical shot, adv. sniper - takes most things down before they can get in range).

If you are out for endurance, then you want to worry about SAC. Rifles are floored at a minimum of 85 for SAC for crafted rifles, which is still enough (even with food) to clear your action pool and leave you alternating ranged attack and headshot. (Or with my 117 T21 >.< ranged, ranged, head). Get a SAC pup (which affects speed I think) or get a quest rifle. (The DC-15 comes to mind though I don't think it has a terribly low SAC). Then you can alternate 2 special attacks, and over the course of the battle you'll end up doing more overall damage than nuking it down and having to alternate.

This is all in my experience - DPS doesn't seem to matter as much for us rifleman as say a pistoleer, that can spam specials constantly but does little damage even with them. It's all a trade off, all balanced. (And I never thought I'd say this, but very well balanced at that).

You may know all this already, if so I apologise in advance.

EDIT: I didn't know about the cap being 2s now, so Starcloud is correct too - use the formula in the stickied FAQ and replace 2s as your modified speed to get a completely accurate DPS for your current weapon. This could also be why specials seem to take the same length of time to complete - by master (unless you're unlucky) you'll have hit this cap.

Speed does influence how long the cooldowns and warmups are. (so yes your wrong ^_- ) but the influence of speed is minimal.
