I have noticed a marked decrease in entering cover if I use the skill while having a MOB targeted vs having nothing targeted. It appears not targeting allows me to enter cover with almost a 4 times greater chance of success.
I'd like some others to experiment with this.

I could never seem to get it to work if I had a mark targeting

Only thing I've really noticed other than cover being nearly impossible to enter is that there is no longer a "rifle concealment chance" statistic given to riflemen. I'm guessing that got yanked from us, and that's why conceal is broken.

I had very good luck with it today and was getting off multiple conceal shots before the mobs found me...killed a blue mob complelety who never found me( i think the higher lvl mobs find you sooner or have better luck). I know the problem you are talking about and seems to be related to sensitivity to line of sight perhaps. All I can say is if you hear a click sound during the warmup, you know it will fail, same thing with sniper shot. What I was doing today was if it failed, I would get up and move around a few times to find what looked like a better line of site....its almost as if very small things in the terrain can prevent line of site. The only problem with that is it doesnt affect anything other than conceal, conceal shot, and sniper shot. Hopefully they can fine tune this and fix it whatever is causing it. All in all though i got used to it today and it worked well.
oh ya...and I wasnt using a rifle at all.... I was using a carbine!

I forgot to add that I'll try out what you suggest later and see if using no target helps enter cover.

remember 1 thing while talking from a cover bug: we have 5 skillpoints in cover...i exerienced a big difference in taking cover, only by adding a +5 cover ca in my vest...so capped at +25 cover should do fine, perhaps not every try-but better then every 5-10 th time...

One thing I noticed about cover and the other long windup skills is that they can fail at different points along the warmup. This leads me to believe that it is making several checks during the windup for failure/success. If this is true, we have more than one chance to fail at any time, and with the lovely ruts we get sometimes into with the random number generator it explains why sometimes we can fail a dozen times in a row.
