Thread: Suggestion: Snipers should have longer range?

It appears that even with range mods, that everyone can shoot from about the same distance ( 64m ). Would it not make sense thatthe Sniping Accuracy column should get a bonus to weapon max range? Since after all, its a sniper, and a sniper should be able to get a shot off before some crazy pistolleer running at you. Because its possible and I have had it happenin PvP, I was hit with a Knock Down shot and the guy just ran up on me and beat me to death while I laid there. I understand that there are mods to make them less accurate at the maxrange. Or another possiblity, not as good, but maybe rifleman should not have a penalty at max range. being that they are ment to shoot from a long distance.


Does this seem possible or a real possiblity? Being that we are about helpless at point blank we should have a bit more range than other units. again, the title for the column is "Sniper". a sniper limited to a pistols range isn't much of a sniper. Thank you in advance for any response on the issue. And sorry to any one if this is an old issue, i did not see it listed.

I think its almost universaly agree'd(well from riflemen at least) that rifles should be streached out... to where is the point of discussion.


i say give us 3m each branch of sniper or mabe one of the other ones... for a total of +12m to max distance... putting it at an atainable 76m which is not much but, it is a nice bump.

I wouldn't go thanking them in advance. This is just common sense, a high powered rifle and a pistol shoud not have the same max range, thats it. Im a rifleman, and i have a friend who is a pistoleer. A good enough pistoleer at 64m, even with all the mods for max range, are pretty **edit** accurate. So lets see, i shoot off my rifle once, maybe hit, maybe not, wait 6 seconds (with 31% speed powerup, otherwise more like 8 seconds) while the pistoleer fires off shot after shot after shot, while running in so by the time im ready to get off another shot, im either dead, or have no chance in hell of getting a hit in. Oh yeah, and then nerf the hell out of our best weapon too, yay.

I stand corrected, they just admitted that they were wrong about changing the T-21 to AP1, and they are gonna change it back, so who knows. They still have a lot of work to do, but if they are willing to admit they are wrong then maybe there is hope.

if they bumped rifles ranges up to 85+ meters it still wouldnt be near overpowered. Its sad that pistols have the same range as rifles.

I am much more accurate with a rifle IRL than I am with a pistol at similar ranges.

I dunno I was thinking 96-128m range. I can catch up to someone 64m away pretty quick, and so can mobs. I want to be a sniper. I.E shooting from LONG distances. If they want to keep it at 64m, Pistols and carbines need a max range of anywhere from 20-30m to compensate. Which is realistic anyways..

sadly i dont think they will ever increase the max range for rifleman but there would be a better chance that they would decrease the max range of pistols and carbines cause well... pistols are a close range weapon not a distance weapon... and i think that they really cant increase the weapon range beyond 64 meters cause the server has major problems tracking anything that is over 64m out, ever notice how stuff usually only starts to appear right at that 64m mark,... actually i think its more like in the 70 range.... i seem to think its just a part of the way the server conserves resources which makes sense it would also prolly be the reason stuff just pops up outa nowhere while burst running... anyway idefintily agree that pistols and carbines should have a much lower max range than rifleman... hmm i wonder if any of that made sense its gettin kinda late and im gettin knda tired...

Okay well I can deal with that if they severely drop the max ranges of Carb and Pistol, more pistol though. Carbineer can have almost as much range as a Rifleman the fact is carbines more or less spray shots, they are not pinpoint shots like a pistol or rifle, so they should suffer severe accuracy penalties as they go further out, but still maintain the fact they CAN engage from that kind of range. But pistol should be dropped. Or at least allow pistols to fire from 64m but they must be in stationary positions, no running and shooting. What do you guys think?
