Thread: Problems with rifleman and solutions
Ok here we go, this is gonna be long, most of it problems we all know about but since the devs still have no clue what's wrong, might as well point it out to them again.
Problem #1: Novice rifleman is extremely difficult to level or play compare to other novice elite combat professions, they shoot the slowest by far, do maybe a slight bit more dmgper hit, and they cannot fight for all that long before they are out of mind from using specials. They are the least useful elite combat class in a group next to commandos. As someone else said before, you are a 100% certified gimp until you hit master.
solution: redistribute the speed bonuses we aquireup to master in such a way that novices can shoot fast enough to compete with others while leaving masters with the sameoverall speed bonus.
Problem #2a: Our so call advantage in dealing unhealable damage is moot in pve, I have never seen a creature heal itself, npcs do heal themselveson rare occasions for miniscule amounts, alsowe are dealing ourselves unhealable damage at the same time when we use mindrelatedspecials
solution: reduce HAM costs or boost the power of ourmind specials in pve
Problem #2b: HAM cost is too high on our weapons, and since our specials uses mind this leads to lots of downtime, as a master I can be out of mind in less than 30 seconds if I use a T21 or even a laser. Heck, even with a dlt20aI can be out of mind beforeI know it using headshot 3. Mind you I have 1100/600/600 mind stats, maxed for human.
solution: reduce the cost
Problem #3: T21 was overpowered in a master's hands but was fine for novice since they're so slow. As a master I was firing off strafe shot 2s once every 2 seconds and can hit anywhere from 2500-9600 with a 182-675 damage T21 sliced for damaged with a 30% max damage powerup, the drawback was that I would be out of mind in 13 or so shots with maxed out mind stats on a human 1100/600/600, Iwas literally killing myself when I use specials, I would walk away after fighting a small rebel specforce base with less than a third of my bars
solution: hard to say butI would think making it slower, reducing max damage, make the armor piercing bonus lower for each level (say drop it by 10%, so you have 15% bonus damage to each lower ar level). Any of these 3 or maybe a combination sounds good, just don't make the gun faster,speed is the last thing any rifleman need. We are snipers, we all want high damage, slow, precise hits.
Problem #4: Concealment tatics need to do more, personally I'm fine with conceal shot as is but cover is not very useful. Also the increase to crawl speed doesnt work.
solution: boost the defensive bonuses received while under cover and fix the crawl speed
Problem #5: Area attacks are broken, they often display damage numbers on top of targets but would only damage the one target you fired on instead of all the nearby enemies as it is suppose to, this in effect attracts all the nearby monsters to you while only hurting one. Fun.
solution: fix it so it works properly, it's a bug
Problem #6: Block is bugged, never blocked once, ever.
solution: fix it
Problem #7: We are horrible in pvp, for novice, they can't shoot fast enough or do enough damage to scratch their opponents. For masters, our HAM costs are so high and we shoot so fast we are commiting suicide, making prime targets for eyeshooters.Also, one KD and you're a dead rifleman, enough said.
solution: the timer on KD still stacks, fix it. eye shot shoulduse mind instead of action, otherwise take it out, mind damage is suppose to be our specialty anyways.
That's about all I can think of at the moment, what do you think they should do to fix us?
