Hey Guys this is something I started to think about after hearing of the compromise that the devs put forward. It is in part 2 things im suggesting.

One – A rethink on all Rifles in regards to when we receive them.

Two – A rethink of the damage of all the rifles we receive certification for.

Firstly let me say this, I don’t use a SG82, Bowcaster, Jawa or Tusken Rifle so I don’t know anything about them, if you want you could add another post adding the information in regards these options as well

One of my gripes is that we have no weapons to look forward to once we reach Novice Rifleman, I don’t know what Carbineer and Pistoleer are like, but if they are the same I find this very strange. It could be possible to take Master Marksmen and take Novice Rifleman, Novice Pistoleer & Novice Carbineer (The Novice skills will only take 18 points to do) and you have every single weapon a ranged profession can have. (With exception of the Commando weapons)

I find this highly strange and think the devs have missed the point on our “Elite Weapons”

I think our certifications need to be spread out more. Gives us a reason to advance.

Novice Marksmen – CDEF Rifle, leave specs as they are, AP 0
Intermediate Rifle – DLT20, leave specs as they are, AP 0
Advanced Rifle – DLT20a, leave specs as they are, AP 1
Expert Rifle – Spraystick, 20min – 180 max, 2.0sec fire rate, AP 0
Elite Rifle – Laser Rifle, 20min – 300 max, 5.0 sec fire rate, AP 2

Novice Rifleman – E11 Rifle, 125min – 225 Max, 5.0 sec fire rate, AP 2
Master Rifleman – T21 Rifle, 200min – 400 Max, 8.0 sec fire rate, AP 3

No, im not a master at all the maths that goes into working out the DPS when AP is taken into consideration so for this, im just going to work out the raw DPS.

Spraystick – DPS 50.00
Laser Rifle – DPS 32.00
E11 Rifle – DPS 35.00
T21 Rifle – DPS 37.50

Now, with the AP damage it appears the Spraystick wins, but with an AP0 this isn’t anywhere near the truth. I don’t know the exact maths involved in working out the AP ratings and the damage it does, but for the sake of some simple answers im going to simply multiply the AP rating by the DPS.
Therefore we have,

Spraystick – APO, DPS 50.00
Laser Rifle – AP2, DPS 64.00
E11 Rifle – AP2, DPS 70.00
T21 Rifle – AP3, DPS 112.50

Now for Ham Costs, I may be simple but I came up with the simple solution that DPS x AP Rating should equal the HAM costs.

Therefore we,

Spraystick 2.0 Fire Rate, DPS – 50, therefore HAM Cost 50, HPS = 25 HAM per sec
Laser Rifle 5.0 Fire Rate, DPS – 64, therefore HAM Cost 128, HPS = 25.6 HAM per sec
E11 Rifle, 5.0 Fire Rate, DPS – 70, therefore HAM Cost 140, HPS = 28.0 HAM per sec
T21 Rifle, 8.0 Fire Rate, DPS-112.50. Therefore HAM Cost 337.50 HPS = 42.78 Ham per sec

Now I know it seems a lot of HAM on the T21, but I also think that instead of the Fire Rate we receive as Master Rifleman, this should be substituted for infact the HAM Cost reductions.

Instead of Speed we get divide it between Speed and HAM Reductions, but still keep the speed of the Rifle constant. I don’t know the exact math behind it, but by the sounds of what the lucky Master Rifleman out there are saying is when Master you have a total of +90 to you speed which I can assume mean that you are 90% quicker? For the sake of the example im going to assume we have 100% (50% and 50%) to play with.

So let’s assume this, and change rifle speed to Speed / HAM Costs. Therefore we have a HAM Reduction of 50% and a rifle speed of 50% Increase (Benefit of being a Maser Rifleman)

Therefore we are left with,
Spraystick 1.0 Fire Rate, DPS – 25, therefore HAM Cost 25, HPS = 12.5 HAM per sec
Laser Rifle 2.5 Fire Rate, DPS – 32, therefore HAM Cost 80, HPS = 32.0 HAM per sec
E11 Rifle, 2.5 Fire Rate, DPS – 35, therefore HAM Cost 87.5, HPS = 35.0 HAM per sec
T21 Rifle, 4.0 Fire Rate, DPS-56.25. therefore HAM Cost 225 HPS = 56.25 Ham per sec

Now I know that a lot of people are going to say that the HAM cost are actually more, but due to the fire rate, I think this has to be the case, otherwise we are too overpowered. It is basic maths, a Master Rifleman is doing twice the damage in the same time it would take a Novice Rifleman, yet our HAM costs arent twice as much, which is currently the way it is at the moment. Which is what a lot of us having difficultly with. (Running out of mind) So we are forsaking some speed for a HAM cost reduction.

Now to me, combine with the fact they are spread out more, and the damage increases as you progress through the rifle skills, and the HAM reductions as you progress makes a whole lot more sense. Now I also think something like this should be introduced for pistoleers and carbineers. To what degree ive no idea, as I don’t play either profession.

I personally think it puts all the weapons in the order they should be and your advancement flows a lot more with the weapon you are using. I previously thought that they T21 should be made available to Novice Rifleman, but the more I look at my proposal the more it makes sense to me. I would be more than prepared to change the weapon set up to something along these lines. It will give everyone more purpose to achieve Master Rifleman and!!

So what do you guys think? It just seems to make a lot more sense to me, and more than likely a lot of you have had the same thoughts as well.
