Thread: Question about AP and AR

I am aware that higher AP weapons are supposed to have pretty impressive damage modifiers on opponents with a lower AR (not sure on the numbers, but I remember it being a significant damage boost). After being out in the field in both PvE and PvP I have come to the conclusion that these AP vs AR effects are either not working or have not been implemented yet. I'm sure that if these effects are broken or haven't been implemented yet it has already been brought to everyones attention, I am just posting to make sure that they aren't in effect. So my questions to anyone who might have some info : Was I correct in assuming that the whole AP vs AR thing isn't in effect yet? And also, if these effects haven't been implemented wouldn't a headshot from a T21 do some very heavy damage to an opponent who wasn't wearing a helmet in PvP? (I believe that the mods of AP3 on AR0 was somewhere around x3) and that means we would be doing full damage to unarmored opponents, even with the 75% PvP damage reduction...I always thought that was why our T21's damage were reduced...could someone please help me clarify whether the AP vs AR effects have been implemented, or am I missing something?

Unless it was fixed in a very recent patch, AP is stillhalf broken, the broken part being that it doesn't work on an enemy with no AP rating or no % resist listed for the damage type you are doing.

In other cases, AP works properly. For each level of AP over the AR, you get 25% bonus damage and for each level of AP under the AR, you get a -50% damage penalty. Those are NOT applied in the combat window, but overhead.

examples:

an AR2 laser rifle doing 340dmg in the combat window will do 478dmg overhead on an AR0 10% energy resist enemy. (340x1.25x1.25x0.9)

an AR0 gun doing 300 dmg in the combat window will do 135dmg overhead on an AR1 10% energy resist enemy. (300x0.5x0.9)

However, an AR2 laser rifle doing 340dmg in the combat window will do 340dmg on an AR0 no % resist enemy, because it is currently broken. So incidentally, and until it is fixed, an AR2 weapon used in PvP will do more damage on an enemy wearing a cheap armor than on an enemy wearing no armor at all...
