Thread: Increase the Rifleman's Range
I posted this in the main forum and it was closed for being off topic after 10 replies. This I regard as a touch unfortunate as while most riflemen (of sound mind) are likely to agree it is always worthwhile to hear the opinion of other classes which, in this forum, we are less likely to receive.
Personally I regard the maximum range for a rifleman as laughable. This is to say we have a sniping skill tree but the maximum distance we can fire from is 64m. A pistol can hit from 64m, while this is not the peak range it can still hit. In my opinion either the range on pistols / carbines should be reduced: 35m and below for pistols and 45m and below for carbines or we should see a dramatic increase in range for the rifleman.
At the moment the idea of sniping is completely absent especially in PvP - how can you be 64m away and covertly attack your target, it is quite impossible. A range of closer to 100m however hard it would be to implement would give the rifleman the abilities to match his title. This, I believe, would do much to justify the penalties we endure and stop us being run down by pistol wielding opposition who can hit from 64m down to 1m. Perhaps the best way to bring this in would be to have the basic range of 64m and then as you progress up the skill tree you get increases in range, with a maximum of 90 - 100m on reaching Master Rifleman.

64M is an engine/AI limitation.

I do agree with the Reduced range as long as rifleman are horribly innaccurate on the move or cant shoot at all on the move ... would get the message "you cannot fire this weapon while running"
Kinda like Casters in other games where they have to stand still to cast.
