Your damage mod pup should be that percentage of the minimum damage of the weapon applied to both the min and max damages. There is no cap on damage due to a pup.....I have ALR's on the top end over 1,350.
A base ALR capped on damage would be 1,184 (crafted max).So your 64 pts under the crafted max damage cap.
If you have a fair amount of speed mods then I would slice this weapon all damage. Even with an 86 SAC it's possible to drain your action bar if your spamming two shots on different timers. The downside of this is if your in a group, and doing the most damage per shot, you normally draw the most hate which means you end up taking the most damage. The other drawback is that in order to get a 8% damage slice (the max) you need an Illegal Core Booster for the final slice. These are hard to come by and currently selling for $3 million on my server. I am not sure your rifle is even worth $3 million let alone paying that for the slice needed.
A better bet might be to go 4% damage and 4% speed. This gives you good impact all around and I think leaves you 1 slice for critcal (that does not appear to work.......I get more critical's being listed but see no impact in the combat log on the animal or NPC).
