Thread: My GCW template plan: MRifleman/MCommando. Any feedback?

I am a MBE/MCH, but I am tired of being a sissy crafter type, so I am dropping CH first and BE slowly and working towards MRifleman, and then MCommando. I have always wanted to do rifleman because it is my go-to weapon in most FPS, and I like the skills and the weapons that it offers in SWG. Once I master Rifleman, I plan on starting commando due to the high damage dealing abilities and the access to blast damage via Rocket Launchers and the Launcher Pistol. The remaining points I think I will spend on getting Pistoleer 0030 to make my Launcher Pistol more effective. Barring that, it will be in medic or scout or artisan. Medic for healing or scout or artisan for gathering resources for a source of income.

Has anyone tried this combo, and if so, what did you think of it?

I am currently a Rifleman 2121, and am primarily using a sweet T21. I got a 34% damage slice on it and its max damage with a powerup is 715. I have another T21 with a high speed slice use speed powerups on it to bring the speed down to 3.2 or 3.4, I can't rember. I also carry a descent Laser Rifle, Jawa Ion Rifle and I just got a Disruptor Rifle, but haven't had it sliced yet.

This sounds like a fairly decent combo. I have been a commando before (alas way back last year) but it was a lot of fun and the damage you can do is very high. Hmm *thinking of melee'er running at you thinking you are only a rifleman when you pop out the flamethrower and give him a world of hurt*. Yes that does sound like fun!


The only problem I see is the lack of defenses if you plan on PvPing. You will obviously get some melee and ranged defense through rifleman and some state defenses through commando and pistoleer but not a lot. You might find it harder against some of the heavy defense stacking players out there. In PvE you should do great though.

well... i was thinking this as well, but im on teh hologrind and im using rifel to do teh invest line in BH....


i did mCommando before i did rifel and then dropped to flame 4/mRifel and it was a killer combo. i would sujest mRifel/commando flame4/medic 4040 and you have like a few points left over from there... i was goign to put it into artisan if rifel unlocked for me, so i could drop my weekly heavy harvs to make my cash.

Well I'm planning to do that combo as well, but more in a "support" way, mainly to assist groups for HQ raids/krayt hunts and that kind of stuff.

seems good, except vor "duel-type" PvP

Thanks for the feedback guys. This is my template for mass-PvP. One on one I would prolly get beat by various different templates, but I kinda like this one in concept. I will be sure to post how it works out, but I am not much for grinding so it will take awhile to finish.

Commando is pretty asstastic in PVP since all their specials have 16m range so they get kited like a melee, and flamecone is weak now. They kill turrets real fast though.

While it sounds like a pretty good idea, if a TK or other melee type gets in close, they're gonna eat your lunch. For dragon hunting (or most other, for that matter) rifleman will outdamage commando hands down.

I would suggest some melee, either TK, pikeman, or sword to go with rifleman. TK gives some excellent defenses and abilities (FOW, powerboost), pikeman gives you more block (which does not suck as bad as some people say), and sword is another heavy mind hitting melee prof.

I'd have to agree with the above poster, the lack of defenses is the main drawback of the combo. Whats the point of being able to flame cone someone (or a group of someones) if you are lying flat on your back? You can counteract that to some extent with food and drink, but that can get expensive, and you have to have it on hand.


It would work well for mass combat situations- if that is the bulk of what you do in PVP than it might be the way to go, but I find that the majority of PVP I engage in is not the mass free for all but one on one situations in which I think your lack of defences would kill you (and at the moment are killing me!)


So bottom line is it depends on what sort of PVP you find yourself engaging in on a regular basis.

I was a master commando while I worked up to master rifleman. As soon as I got MR, I dropped MC cause MC was so bloody useless. Commando has been nerfed to hell. I had a 1K+ damage flamer with ok Speed. I'd use Flame cone 2 on a group of NON BUFFED people, and they'd turn around and kill me. Then, because burn has been nerfed so much, all they had to do was pop stim B's for a couple minutes, and the burn would wear off, and they'd never drop below HALF HAM! This was a regular occurance! And if you run into a stacker, forget about hitting them. You may as well just shoot yourself in the head and save everyone the time and trouble. MC is useless except for taking down bases. In PVP its more hindrance than help. In PvE its even odds wether it helps or hurts cause half of everything out there is heat resist on adv planets. Course, if you stay on the starter planets, you can do some serious damage. Go MTK. And stat adjust so you have max mind, and low HA. They can be buffed so you can put on armor. Good doc buffs/Good comp/Stat adjusts = Uuber combat monster in PvE AND PvP. I know a guy that did what I'm saying, and he solod the NS themepark! Everything but the elder!

Rifleman is enough ranged damage dealing potential for a character right now, I'd use the rest of your points to either pick up a melee profession for defenses/melee damage or pick up a support profession like Doctor so you have a chance vs CMs.
