Thread: new Master Rifleman wants to start hunting Krayts, what equipment do I need?

First of all, yes, I got Rifleman on my 3rd holo. So I just grinded it out on Quenkers on Dant, had a little fun along the way experimenting with CH by raising a pet so I could use Flushing Shot 2 (which is a lot of fun). Now that I'm done, I love being a Master of an Elite combat profession and I love the sniping aspect. I love the damage I can do and I'm still using very average equipment, the same stuff I used for the grind - a speed sliced Laser Rifle with speed powerups. I'm going to keep grinding for the jedi but also keep MR.


So I now have the skills and I'd like to start using them. My question is what equipment do I need to start hunting Krayts with my small group of friends? From what I've read I need a T21 for the AP instead of the Laser Rifle. Damage slicedwith speed powerups, or speed/speed, or speed/damage? In our group we have a Master Commando, Master TKA, one guy has an alt who is a Master Doc/Musician for buffs, and I should be Master CM soon as well. Couple other chars, can't remember but those are the significant ones.


Is armor that important for a Rifleman in a group? I had been using advanced Ubese in the grind and it got decayed down to nothing along the way, so I'm wondering if I need Comp. armor or ???

armour is only needed if you plan on getting hit.


i would say as part of a diverse group it iwll be more of a hindrance than a help.


krayt do AOE attacks so having more than one tank is pointless since melee damage that a TK does toa krayt is useless when compaired to the damage the rifle and sword folks can do to the mind.


basically you need music/brandy and doctor buff

a decent T21 in the 350-450 range speed powerups will wear your weapon out fast shooting a single krayt. i dont recomend using them when shooting targets that require extended periods of time to kill. a krayt we are talking about 10-15 minutes of contimous firing.


if a krayt latches onto a rifle user your going down regardless of armour. the defenses and damage resist that TK get isnt there for rifle users.

Damage sliced T21 for krayts is enough. Keep a few in your inventory - speed slices get destroyed/given away to grinding novices, but low-range damage slices are good for grinding away at things like krayts. You will do over 100 condition wear on 1 krayt if your gun is powered up, so plan on repairing a lot if you do decide to power up. Try to make sure you're shooting at the cap either by making sure to have master marksmen or by picking up a couple speed tapes or both.


With yourCM skills, you probably want to go mind damage. Always depends on your group though, you'll do a little more damage doing strafe2 and if your group is made up of health/action targeting profs, then you'll want to go that route.


Armor is optional on krayts. You may be able to take 1 or 2 hits from a krayt if you have 80% kinetic on, but probably not more. You'll have to see what it does to your HAM when you're wearing it. Doc buff, 2 brandies and 3 canapes and you'll be going forever so long as it doesn't get close to you. If you don't have a doc buff your gun will drain your health and action and you'll have to constantly stim yourself. Mind should never go down as long as you've done a reasonable stat migration towards mind and its secondaries and are using your foods.


You need a player character tank, TKA or fencer are good, and since it sounds like you have a pet. I suggestkeeping it at your side on stay and if things get crazy toss em at that krayt while you're burst running away. It will only slow the thing down for a couple seconds, but it could help to save you.

What you need is a lot ofgood 27% and above damage sliced T-21 riflesand a whole bunch of 33% max and 16% min damage power ups. You should also wear a shirt like this

Optional?? what!? its a must. You wanna get taken out in two hits for 1800 thats fine. Or you could invest in 80% and get hit for 360.
