Thread: Publish 7 CAP Information

Klawlegna:I need to clear up confusion. Please describe the cap in detail here. I'm under the impression it is 125 to ranged andmelee as well as dodge, block, etc. and the limits are not showing on Live for some reason?


Keldarin: That is correct. Block, Dodge, Counterattack, Ranged Defense & Melee Defense are all capped at 125.


The cap is only to your raw score. All other defense modifiers are in full effect. That means your raw Ranged Defense would be at 125 and then a Squad Leader group bonus comes into player and you are past the cap.


I know that the Skill window does not correctly reflect this cap. Ultimately that because the cap is temporary. Once we have the formulas that use the numbers fixed so that they can accept larger and larger number without creating broken results like dodging 100% of the time then we will be able to remove the cap and everything will be fine again.

As if there weren't already a ton of TK/Riflemen (heck, even I am one), now there will be even more since it so neatly fits underneath the cap.

You'de at least hit them tho...plus those rifle users who got melee all stacked up under em still suffer the To Hit modifier from melee

A friend and I ran some test's on this, came up with the same answer. But this states it officially, thank's Klaw.

The big question for me is, does this include SEA's and AA's?


I have a +25 to ranged defense AA in a ubese shirt. Is it time for me to go to the galaxy trade forums?


Also, does the bonus for being in a stronghold apply?


Inquiring minds want to know.

Don't have any proof to back me up on this but logical deduction, but Keldarin said that if you were grouped with a squad leader then the skill he has will push you beyond the cap. So stronghold (which is a politician skill) would push you beyond the cap as well. As for attachments...who knows, but I'm guessing no.

Food, SQL, Attachments, Tapes, etc.. all still stack and will apply over the 125 cap.

wheres this information coming from?
cause to me this is very very important, i have +25 to melee and ranged in attachments and use the +25 melee defense food. I havnt seen a official answer to this

From what they said all other defenses are still stackable.

Just to recap

Block/Dodge/Counterattack are all capped at 125
Skill Attachments and Tapes will get you past 125 upto 150
Chef Foods and Drink will allow you past the cap
Trandoshan Natural Abilities +10 Melee Defense will allow you past the cap
Squad Leader Bonuses and City Stronghold will allow you past the cap

So what you saying, as a trandoshan with +25/+25 Melee Ranged/Defense Tapes I will have +160 Melee Defense and +150 to Ranged Defense?
Add +25 Melee Defense with food and I have +185 Melee

Is there anyway we can get a 100% confirmation on this, cause this is definitly something we can build out new templates on

Hey Gdog I didn't know you were a rifleman too, heh must need to visit your town a bit more often then just to see the TIE


From what Klaw was saying that is my take on the new system as well, plus you can throw stronghold on there if you are a member of the town's militia. True you guys wouldn't do that but still, it gives a betterreason for bases to come into PC's now.
