Ok.....I would just like a soilid answer. I want to know EXACTLY how u wack a NPC w/ out being detected and can u do it w/ out being Master rifleman? the + to cover in the conceilment tree only adds to sucsesfully taking cover (wich seems to not work according to most MR) and the + to conceil is in the sniping tree(which seems a little backwards.lol).....which one makes u undetectable by NPCs? can u use any shot or do u have to use conciel shot? So what i'm asking is....can a 4/1/0/4 rifleman take out NPCs w/ out being detected? and do u have to use conceil shot?and should u be prone or in take cover? is distance a factor?

Thanks

In order to avoid aggro, you must use Conceal Shot and not miss more than twice, which means having a high accuracy. It appears that you have the accuracy line complted, so you're pretty good on accuracy (you do get an additionaly +40 at Master Rifleman). It's best to be at maximum range, 64 meters, and prone. Then make sure to use only Conceal Shot.

You must of played 48 hours straight cuz I dont see how anyone can do it that fast. Even if you had your Combat XP maxed out before you started MR, I dont see it.

The problem is that there are two competing principles involved here and it confuses people. So let's look at the big picture.

The basic mechanic is that when you shoot something, it will auto respond and attack you back. This auto response attack, however, can be delayed if the target has not yetdetected you. Shooting it gives you a TEF for that target, which helps to increase its chances of detecting you. Also, the more you shoot it, the greater the chance of detection. You can decrease, but not eliminate the chance of detection, by increasing distance from the target and by lowering your posture. The closer to max range you are, the harder it is for the target to detect you. The lower your posture, the harder as well. So upright and standing next to the creature will get you aggroed immediately. But prone at max range will take it more time.

Add all this together, and you will find that if you are prone and at max range, you can get off 2, 3, and sometimes 4 of any shot before the creature detects you and aggros on you. This is primarily dependent on speed. At Master, I have gotten off as many as six shots on NPCs, killing them before they had a chance to aggro. The minimum distance you should be from the target and have any reasonable chance of not being detected almost immediately is 40m.

That is how it works with shots other than Concealshot, and it works the same for almost everyone. That is, you can do the same thing with a Pistol. Melee weapons cannot take advantage of this mechanism because the max distance you can hit with melee (Lunge2) is 20m, well within the 40m minimum range.

Concealshot, however is a special case. Concealshot does nothing to make you more hidden, it simply stops the autoresponseto theshot. Therefore, you still pickup the TEF and you still can be detected and aggroed on as an enemy, but the target is prevented from autoresponding to the attack, so it will not automatically detecte you and aggro on you just because of the shot. However, it can wander too close or detect you for other reasons. For instance, if you miss twice, the target will automatically detect you. Also, all shots have a chance of setting off a small random bleed. If this happens with Concealshot, and the bleed ticks off, you will be detected as well. In otherwords, Concealshot does not make you invisible, and you have to take all the normal precautions to avoid detection. It just never sets into motion the automatic response mechanisms that other shots do, so you can keep firing it as long as you are not detected for some other reason.

+ to Cover does nothing for Concealshot;it only helps you take cover, which simply increases your ranged defenses. Therefore, there is no need to/TakeCover to useConcealshot. There is a + to Rifle Concealment Chance added not that long ago, which was put in to help Riflemen single pull creatures. This is a passive mod, and I believe it reduces your chances of detection. But again, it does not make you invisible, and all the mechanisms above still apply. It just means that you get a little more time to shoot and likely reduces the targets friends chances of aggroing when the mob is social. That being the case, Concealment chance would help you with Concealshot in that it helps keep you from being detected for other reasons.
