OK. first of all I finally made it into the world of Rifleman last night. I have save and saved money comes hard to me I played 4 weeks before I got paid for any missions, bought myself a T21 and it appears i miss allot more than I did with my laser rifle hince I land at cloning allot. I also am getting rather frustrated with this whole armor bit. I have migrated stats and I understand it takes a while to migrate but 5 days come on.. I also am now alarmed that I may have not moved what i should have moved. The armorI haveisthe padded varity when I try to put it on it says I'm not healthy enough. WhatI did is look at the armor, all the pieces added up the health requirement the action requirement and the mind requirement and made sure these stats are High enough to wear but still can't. Do I suposed to move the sub catagories as well strength const. ect. IfI am suposed to move these how do I know how much. I also would like to know what other rifleman are doing for XP. any descent hunting spot or creatures. Please help me thank you.

Ditch your Armor. You dont need it. Its overrated. All I wear for armor is the boots and gloves of Mabari Armorweave. Get a good looking set of socketed clothing and collect enhancements for them. You are prolly dieing all the time because you are fighting the wrong way. You cant use the T21 as a standalone weapon. Get another quicker weapon to complement it. We dont have T21's on Gorath, so most of the time I use a Laser Rifle and DL20a. I also keep a Spraystick and E11 on my person as they are very quick weapons. Good to use the Spraystick and E11 for Warningshots.

Armour is worthless as a rifleman. Because if they get close enough to beat on you, you are in trouble with the penalties at close range and mellee disadvantages. I ditched all mine and have not thought about it since I got rid of it.

On top of that the ham costs are pretty steep on the high end moves and armour gimps your stats.

Just like I, and Swiller said. Armor is worthless as a Rifleman. Instead of just trying to LOOK cool, you should think of the consequences that occur from wearing the armor. The HAM costs make it impossible for you do regain your Mind pool the way it should be.

Dont listen to me if you dont want. I am just 1/3 the way to Master Rifleman. Why would I know what I was talking about...

OK...I am not meaning to offend anyones knowledge...It was a simple question...I understood what you were saying but I still would like to how it works in the event i change to another profession...I appreciate the info and do not think i was implying that I dont beleive anyone. It may br knowledge I would like to gain to help out my wife (who plays the game) or other friends It would be nice to broaden my knowledge past rifleman just to get a grasp on the whole game. sheesh......I posted her hoping to find knowledge not people who simply just dont take the first answer to a question if it never answers the question not a flame just dont understand getting all bent out of shape for not taking "your answer" when it didnt answer the question

My understanding is that armor ONLY looks at and affects your secondary stats. The primary HAMs are not affected.

First of all...I think that it is just plain stupid not to wear armor. Put some on and have someone hit you...Take it off and have someone hit you...I know Riflemen get a huge damage increase in melee, but do you want a huge increase with no protection??? Stupid...

As for the HAM cost's...Eat some food...Buy some spices from a smuggler...

I know that the best thing for us is not to be hit, but lets be realistic...it happens!

Try different armors and see which one works for you. Any armor is better than none.

One more thing...I don't wear a helmet, so the mind costs aren't that bad.

Don't bother with armor. If you are getting engaged in melee, it's already too late for you most likely, barring a warning shot from a spraystick. If you are multiclass, say rifle/2hs, then yeah, armor can be good, but you'd want to don it for melee only. I've used armor a bit and finally decided it's simply not worth it when using pure rifle. With the stuff I hunt, either I keep it off me or I die, armor or no.

Joydiv66, you are gimping yourself wearing armor for an emergency situation (melee). You are lowering all your HAM bars, raising the cost of specials, and slowing your recovery rates, all in case of an emergency situation. Sure, you can spice it up, but the spice would be more effective without the armor. I'll stick to burst run for emergencies.

YMMV, but the original poster should know the downsides if choosing to wear armor that shouldn't come into play 99% of the time.

I group a lot and it would suck for me to burst run and leave my group.

I do sometimes have to take hits...i.e. missed warning shots andthe pause while running and shooting.

I migrated my mind, focus and willpower to max...dont wear a helmet and spice up...I am NOT gimped.

Try it.

one trick though...just unequip the rifle before you burst run...otherwise...ouch!
