Hello all. I was wondering how effective this class is in PvP. I imagine they are great against single PC's and have it a bit tougher with groups of 2 or more. Is this the case? I am seriously thinking of going master Rifleman, but I am also debating on going Master BH. Any help or suggestions are welcome.

Bigbattles, when using spice, master riflemen are just about the best class you can have.

In a 1v1 fight I'd take the BH.(A smart BH anyway, a lot of them arn't too bright.)

Dueling in PvP, 1 on 1, you will get spanked..............

But in large battles - Imperial vs. Rebels, rifleman are awesome for the sheer fact that after you incap someone, the medics can't throw a stim on them to bring them right back. But you need people to support you also.

So this class isnt the right choice for someone that likes to single people out and take them down 1 on 1?

It depends on the one on one person really. But no, in general Rifleman are not a good one on one class. Were a large battle, but short. If the large battle lasts to long we become worthless, but if the large battle is fairly quick we are awsome.

Best AE damage in the game at Master, but we drain mind giving us limited shots.

If you want one on one, go BH. They have Carbine KD< wich is a KD+Dizzy, Eye shot, and LLC. Best 1v1 class in the game.

I don't even use HS that often in big battles, I use strafe 2instead. I just ranged DB the person before they get healed alot of the time anyway.

You can single people out and take them down very fast, but if it is just 1v1 you won't beeven close to a well played BH. (Unless you get very lucky and get a 1 shot kill)

If you use mmmGold + food, you can last until the downer chain firing strafe2 on a laser rifle while wearing a composite helmet. Thatsaid, it is a right pain having to wait out spice downers all the time.

Until you hit Master Rifleman you're pretty worthless. Mindshot2 and run away and hope they don't follow until you're out of range.

Once you reach master you're in good shape except against Bounty Hunter. No combination of 250 skill points will beat someone with 0040 in BH.

get a nice pet or go creature handler besides riflemen...that pet will get you a few extra seconds most of the time, at least enoughfor mind shot2 and one good hit withheadshot...then its time to kite. A good pvper will do a warning shot on the pet and then run to you, but you can gain a few precious secs to gain the advantage. Once you land the mind shot you are pretty much save if you can stay away and keep the pets attacking (spam attack so even after warning shot your pet goes back to him). Some pets with high ferocity values will actually not respond to warning shot (female narglathes for example).

After hitting Master Sharpshooter last week, I unexpectedly encountered PvP situation since I didn't realize I still had the TEF on me after doing a faction mission. I was observing two people dueling their pet in front of the starport of Coronet.

All of a suddenI see on radar a red dot drawing closer, so i quitckly hit 'tab' and find out it's an imperial PC coming straight after me. I didn't expect it coming so i strided back to get some distance just in case he had a FT. Turns out he was a BH and did a carbine knockdown on me quickly. I get up and he starts spamming eyeshot. Luckily,I have a maxed out mind pool but no helmet on so those eyeshots hit me hard. He probably got 4 eyeshots on me quickly and i had about 300 mind left till incap.

Like a gift from the heavens, I hit StrafeShot2 with my 55-708 laser rifle (with power up on) and it instantly incaps the imperial BH (it took out his whole action pool). So I guess there are times when Rifleman do prevail over BH's who spam attacks. It's just a matter of style. In my case I guess I got lucky with a quick one hit blow that he nor I expected.

That's why I hope that future changes to rifleman will not decrease our abilities. I think (my opinion) that Rifleman is the onlyprofession that is most rewarding at Master Level and if any changes are made in the futureto rape that satisfaction, itwould be a great tragedy. So pleaseall Master Sharpshooters voice out on changesand let other know.

Helmets don't help against the Scatter Pistol, which is AP1 and almost assuredly what he was using. He also could have had a better pistol (krayt enhanced). I've been hit with plenty of eyeshots for up to about 350 damage in PvP, so 4 eyeshots from a weapon like that would be a good 1200 damage. You wouldn't have survived that.

Also, he apparently wasn't buffed (or you got very lucky and not only did a high damage hit, but hit his mind pool with a SS2 attack). If he'd been buffed he would have had on the order of 2000-3000 health and action, not counting any foods or spices he could have taken. Personally, I won't attempt to wipe my own arse without health and action buffs (though I admit I probably have better access to a doctor than most people do).

Once you meet an educated bounty hunter you'll see the real problems. Silly bounty hunters who don't get buffs or foods or spices can indeed be beaten but smart bounty hunters are approximately impossible to kill.

In a 1v1 I'd agree, however I think riflemen hold the edge in big battles. If it wasn't for the massive HAM cost I'd say we were better ingroup battles as well.

The trouble is, I find myself having to use mmgold to be effective if fighting more than 5 people. Unless I take the time to use spices and food anymore than 5 people and I end up running around out of mind, trying to kill them with my master marksman pistol skills.

A composite helmet should help a bit against a scatter pistol, I havn't found anyone to test thiswith yet.
