Thread: My ideas for Rifleman Fixes

Ok I read a few of the other posts, mostly they too long and no one looks at a 10 page rant. So here is my idea on how to fix Rifleman and make it a more inline with Rifleman of our history.

First: Have to get all 4 blocks of Rifle from Marksman (DUH). Also have to get all 4 blocks of 2handed weapon from Brawler.

Second: Revise Rifleman Skill tree to include the fact that at close range they use thier rifle as a melee weapon. Include skills like Stock-Smash, and bayonet type skills. Firing would still be at major negative. Notice that with this concept Rifleman should not be hit for 2.5 times more damage. (and everyone prone should be hit for more damage when hit by melee)

Third: Rifleman should be able to use any and all rifles in game. Why a bounty hunter has the ability to use a certain rifle over a guy who masters rifles...

Fourth: Fix ranged combat ranges. By this I mean: Pistols wont hit anything (or even fire) after a certain range (like 40m), Carbines from a range slightly farther (like 60), and Rifles from even farther out (80m). Problem with this is thatgoing to far out may cause some people problems. I know that when I run around most of the time I get within 40m of stuff before it spawns!

Fifth: Get cammoflage, or conceal to actually mean something. Even if a rifleman went to a spot that was devoid of current players. Concealed himself, then waited for an unwitting -opposed faction- player to come along. The player would still see him on radar before the rifleman could even target and fire at him. Which means the -opposed faction- player gets up and personnal with the rifleman before he gets a second shot off. Really dont think this is what anyone has in mind when they think of a Sniper. Now a player being fired on should realise he is being fired on, but should not instantaneously know where the sniper is (2 or 3 shot minimum in order to triangulate shots). If the -opposed faction- player has counter sniper skills though he would most likely know after first shot (and have chance to know before hand based on skill vs skill)

Final note: Rifle speeds are fine (maybe even too fast) snipers typically fire then relocate, or only fire the one time. Thier weapons should reflect what ranges they plan to fight at, and what they plan on doing. A rifleman, basically is a mindset. No matter what weapon he uses he is going to apply the same skills and techniques. So a Rifleman in essence should be able to use a rifle that has ideal range of say 75m, but if he is going to be doing PvP through cities and stuff he may want to switch over to something like a carbine (range of like 40m). No matter what weapon he chooses he should still be applying the same skills. My belief is that rifles should be vastly different from each other. There should be a low damage short range fast rifle (spray stick), low damage mid range fast rifle (nonexistant), low damge long range fast rifle (nonexistant)... I think everyone gets the picture. There should be a weapon for each occasion. Because as a Rifleman, we plan who we are going to go kill, take appropriate weapon to ambush spot, then lay in wait and kill them!

I realize how long this post is and I am sorry. But I think this pretty much sums up what all of us Rifleman are thinking!

Another sniper, I better stick to the M60 faction (thanks psycho for that description *g*)

Seriously, I am fine with my ranged support capabilities that leave me very vulerable when alone. Only need some tweaks (bit less ham use) and bugfixes. I'd be even fine with the 2.5x damage mod if the mobs won't warp all the time. That the heavy weapons are classed as melee will be fixed (at some time...)

I think they should improve Spraysticks so they're actually USEFUL for melee range
