Thread: For those using the Laser Rifle

I am currently using a T21 119-334 speed sliced at 5.4 before powerups. I am considering switching to the laser as I am getting owned in PvP (not that I should be kickin arse). I would like to know if damage range on the laser is as inconsistent as I have heard... i.e. hitting for 50 one round and 300 the next. The T21 hits pretty regular in the higher numbers but, the ham costs and speed are killing me.... LITERALLY. Also, how useful are the other specialty shots?? Flurry, strafe, surprise, startle, etc. I am currently 3/2/0/1 in the rifle tree.

Thanks

I always use flushing2 and flurry 2 in pvp. With a good laser rifle you can occasionally oneshot people. I think the dmg with slice and powerup on my laser is 48-631. The damage is incossistent but its not all that bad. As soon as they make AP work on unarmored oppponents I will probably start using the T21 a little more often though

i have a few lasers. They go from minimim damage of about 35,48,53 to max damage of 320,360,428. Let me tell you sometimes a get a hit at premium range with and aim before for about 90. my average low scores are in the 150-250 range. but ive also gotten shots of 1600.

All these are using head shot two. im not sure how it would look with a normal shot but i guess its about the same but on a lower scale.

ultimatley the Laser rifle is the best thing that has ever happened to my character but sometime when i hit for 150 four time in a row i have doubts.

my vote is get one but be warned that they can be dissappointing and amazing at the same time.

I find myself getting killed less using a speed sliced T21 than with a damage sliced laser rifle. T21 has a much much higher "guaranteed" damage than the laser rifle, and if one hit doesn't kill most the things chasing me, 2 will, whereas the laser rifle, sometimes I got one shot kills, soometimes I got 4 shot kills, sometimes I got killed (not all I do is PvE stuff, so your results may in PvP, until they fix our range "problem" PvP riflemen are kinda SOL)

Use both.

Get a damage sliced/power up good laser rifle for laying down the dots, and for attacking unarmored targets.

Get a damage sliced/powered up T21 for when you can afford to snipe.

Get a speed sliced/damage powered up T21 for base work.

Get some other rifle for spamming head shots, and to shoot in close quarters,in group situations.

Get a carbine or pistol to shoot warning shoots/suppression firewhen pursued closely by melee opponent.

Yes, all of the above. Use examine. Pick your golf club, swing it.

IMHO the damage for the LR is very inconsistent. I do Rebel missions all the time and sometimes I'll 1 shot all my targets and never take a hit (Using Headshot2 or 3). Sometimes I have to pull out my Scout and run around like an idiot doing bodyshots (In SWG too, hehe). Heck, sometimes I even end up in the cloning facility because of that BS. I have hit for anywhere from 50 to3500 damage with a headshot (2 or 3, doesn't matter except HAM cost).

I haven't really used any other Rifle so I might not be the best one to comment so take it for what it's worth... this and a quarter will get you a cup of coffee.

BTW, I am a 2/0/0/1 Rifleman

If your server has decent E11 Rifles (over 100-200 damage @ less than 5.0 speed) use that as your mainstay weapon. Unless, of course, you come across people with Composite Armor. Then swap to the Jawa Ion because Stun Damage is the vulernability on Composite (and almost every other type of) Armor.

If your server lacks the E11, it's a tossup between the Jawa dn the Laser. I perfer the Jawa because even though it has one less AP, it's faster and the minimum damage is reasonable. Headshot2 should never land for 100 damage BEFORE the PvP reduction. That's called suicide.
