Call a CSR every time it happens. I read a Dev comment about why it wasn't fixed yet and s/he said something to the effect of "it's not high on the CS call list". The more you whine the faster it will get fixed.

This could be called abusing the system, but then a company that decides not to fix a major problem because it doesn't receive "many" CS calls on the issue could be accused of abusing its customers. (Yes I could quit,or I couldjust use the poor system to my advantage.)

This was suggested by someone else, but I am making a thread for it here in Rifleman.

Every time a MOB teleports on you, whether you kill it or it kills you, submit a /bug. I think one of the reasons teleporting MOBs don't get fixed is that even though people complain about it on the forums a lot, it isn't reported that often anymore because we assume they know about it.

The development team has certain requirements to complete, I am sure. And those requirements must come from somewhere. I have no doubt that they use the tickets and the /bug reports as a checklist (and believe they are more accurate than these forums, since at least those are documented examples and not just whining).

If SOE/LA is run like any other company, they have to show that they are completing goals. Well, working on a bug that no one /bugs isn't likely to fit that profile. If we make teleporting MOBs the most submitted /bug in the game. . . we've got a much better chance of it being prioritized.

So /bug it every time. That will be THOUSANDS of bugs a day. It'll probably be almost as annoying as the teleporting MOB bug itself. And in a way, it will be strikingly similar.

"**edit** it! I thought I didn't have to worry about this [MOB/BUG] but all of a sudden. . . WHAM! It's right up in my face!"

I believe there was a post on the dev forms asking about what was going on and when a mob warped. I don't thinking bugging EVERY warping mob will do much other than filling a already overflowing list full of spam and hiding other issues that come up. Yes it is VERY annonying when trying to snipe creatures and get me killed alot. I'd suggest trying to track trends and recreate it and push that info out to the devs on the forum post they had set up.

You're welcome

If nothing else this will finally get the point across that we're six of a well documented and well know bug still not being fixed.

PS: Thanks for setling the AP issue as well in that thread Aden.

The Devs know why it happens. It happens because the AI pathing in this game is very poor. The AI is extremely bad at creating a path to a location (such as a target). Betweent the poor pathing and the fact that terrain generates inconistantly, the MOBs commonly believe that there IS no path to the target. In other words, that the ENTIRE path to the target is blocked by something.

The problem is that people use to use the poor pathing in this game to kill really powerful creatures by luring them into town and getting them stuck on a building. Or, for that matter, standing on the far side of a rock and spitting damage at them while the AI stood there, unable to figure out how to walk around the tiny object in the terrain.

The solution was to have MOBs "warp" around the obstruction. You see this sometimes. If you run from a MOB and then BEHIND a rock or a harvester, the MOB giving chase will re-materialize on the far side of the obstruction.

However, in the initial example, if the MOB cannot create a path to you from ANY point, the AI determines that there IS no path to you, and therefore there must be an obstruction for the entire distance. So it warps to the point where the obsctruction ends. In other words, YOUR COORDINATES.

This is a known issue. It's a bug that is crippling entire professions to keep a small minority of players from power-leveling. . . which they will do anyhow. If I have to choose between "stupid" MOBs or "magical" MOBs, I'll take "stupid" every day. They refuse to change this BACK, but they provide no solution.

They fixed a bug with a bug.
