Thread: Is it important to get a second standard damage attack?

Is it important to have another main specal you use to do damage in addition to Head Shot? IE. does it make a big difference to be alternating Head Shot and Leg Shot, or Head Shot and Advanced Critical Shot? Just curious as to what everyone else thinks. It would seem to me that your DPS would go way up (though you chew up your action), but maybe I'm wrong.

When DPS is what counts, I chain Ranged shot with Placed shot. They're both fast, low action attacks. The damage they do is low, but the speed more than makes up for it, and you have the Action for otherattacks when you need them.

In PvP, the only time I use Head shot is when I'm ready to kill the guy. I wait till he getscomfortable withmy rate of damage, watch for him to stim up, knock him back down to close to where he stims, then I use Placed/Startle/Prone/Sniper/Head for the incap.

High Speed/Low Damage attack > Low Speed/High Damage attack

especially when you add state-altering specials into the mix. Having a higher number of chances to attack is superior if the battle is going to have any length at all.

Yeah, but that's not a "standard" damage attack. It requires you to be above 20m away from the target, and in the prone position, and has a long warmup. In PvP you cannot alternate between the two like you would other standard damage attacks because of the requirnments it has.

Headshot, Legshot, Bodyshot, and Critical shot are all "standard" damage attacks, at least by my definition.

Then you are not looking to be a damage dealing rifleman u need to pick up a pistol or a carbine...

High Speed/Low Damage attack > Low Speed/High Damage attack

If you can kill a creature within 10 attacks, don't believe in that, alternate with your 2 most powerful attacks (not including sniper). If you don't have anything else with head shot, ranged/placed is fine. Adv critical is nice, Torso if you don't have it, leg, body, all good things.

If you're just another soldier in a longwinded pve battle against a boss, use ranged/placed until they are down to <9k ham

What? Yes, I know neither Legshot, Bodyshot nor Critical shot are Rifleman specials. But why does that mean I don't want to be a damage dealing Rifleman?

You can't alternate Headshot and Snipershot will running around. You can usually only get Snipershot off as an opening move. By not being able to alternate attacks I'm significantly hurting my DPS. By wanting to get a second high damage shot that I can use in the midst of battle I am saying I want to be a damage dealing rifleman, just like I've wanted to be over a year before the game launched, and just like I have been since launch. I had Master Rifleman 2 months after launch and have never lost it.

I did a little testing last night. If I only fired Headshot,I got a shot offabout every 5-7 seconds. If I alternated between that and Critical shot, I got a shot off about every 3-4 seconds, effectively almost doubling myDPS.

I do understand the sentiment of low damage shots being better overall, but I also like tobe able to have a huge burst of damage now and then.

Advance Startle Shot has the same multiplier as Improved Body Shot so Riflemen effectively have four damaging shots (imp head, adv sniper, imp conceal, adv startle). Now albeit startle wont mez everytime it hits but it still does damage.

Bring back the CU or at least Pre-CU... its better that this MMO Third Person Shooter bullcrap
