Hi all
So i got a second account, and im going the pvp route with it...need m/doc for buffing my main and this new toon, and just decided on rifleman vs fencer or pike or swords...
What race?
Ithorians have +300/+300/+150 to the mind pools, as well as +10 stun/melee defence
But zabby's have +400 focus and equilibrium
...any advice?
thanks

PVP as a riflemen will continue to be dominated by humans because the caps on max mind/focus stats are much higher. Until such a time as they change the stat caps for alien species, human is the best PVP riflemen option. A wookiee riflemen with the new armor can again be pretty effective, but I can't recommend the low mind/focus stats of either zabrak or ithorian. The combat upgrade may well negate all of this, but currently mind damage is still king.

I play as a Zabrak Rifle/cm and Equilibrium is the single most valuable Race Skill I've ever seen or used. It's nice to be able to basically completely heal your mind after spamming HS3 and tossing Mind Poison's.

Itried to train my ithorian ranger in rifle skills ... it was a pain to watch from my third person perspective ... the poor guy had to mount his scope near the muzzle to be able to look through it
Nah ... ithorians are not too bad in rifle-shooting, but the animation looks awkward.

The mind bonuses are nice, but PvP is dominated by zabraks because of Equilibrium. If you use Equilibrium right then itbasically doubles your mind pool. Choosing any other race for pvp only hurts you. By wearing the 4 piece armor suit, eating a canape and drinking 2x brandies your mind pool shouldn't suffer even using a 100+HAM T-21. Most of the time you want to use a jawa which has a much lower HAM cost anyway.

Interesting - my apologies, it seems I've given a bit of bad advice. I've heard so many complaints about alien stat caps and the low max focus for zabraks, but I hadn't heard the pros of equilibrium before.

its not bad advice:
ive been playing a zabby for some months now, and while the equilibrium is nice you can only use it once per hour, and it's not very helpful overall in pvp (although it has saved me a few times).
i never go out without a mind buff, and zabby's cap their mind at 1000, with a dancer buff its 2000, refreshed only once per hour and only if you are not stunned.
I figure with a higher mind stat and dancer buff (and brandy) i can headshot all day, while i couldnt with the zab
im gonna pick my new race based on how high the highest mind pool can be
i played a fish andi think his mind pool was 1400, X2 = 2800 (with mind buf) all day long (plus brandy) = longer periods without rest than 2000 mind pool, refreshable once per hour

If all you were getting was a dancer buff then of course you you drained your mind. Musician Buffs areway more important then Dancer Buffs. Focus is what's important for specials/PvP. I'm a Zabrak and loving the race, especially for PvP. I can equipa full 9 piece suit of comp with 85%base/40%stun Eat 2 arhisi, and a brandy and spam my specials all day long. That still leaves me with atleast 33% of my food and 50% of my stomach empty when I start. The buff timers for these foods out last the filling for a while so I have plenty of room to eat a varity of foods for that (just in case) situation. Then there is that sweet, sweet equilibrium. After having a mind that just don't quit. I can use that ability to find any of those wannabe-pvp-CM's and blow them out of the water. I throw a 60% PSG on and put few VERY power rifles in my hand. I have lasted im 45 minute battles at Imperial outposts were it was me, 15 clone zerging players, and 5 AT-ST's. In the end there were 16 black barred players(including myself after buffs go), 4 big trash heaps, and one badly damaged AT-ST that was lucky enough to come out towards the end of an unforseen arhisi running out.
...so in short, Zabby's rock in the PvP battlefield.

I was using the dancer buff as a point for comparison, but lets look at focus then:
Zabrak: 1000/400/600 no ent buff, 2000/800/1200full ent buff
Human:1100/850/850 no ent buff, 2200/1900/1900 full ent buff
that is a major diffference
I have 3 toons, doc/chef (converting for pvp), dancer/musician, (anddefence stacker fencer), so I'm fully buffed on all stats.
My current pvp toon is m/fencer, m/brawler, 0040 pistols, 0040 pikes, novice medic, so all my defence vs are 100+ (def vs dizzy, kd, etc) and as a zabrak with equilibrium and janta/dancer/musician buffs, 85base 40 stun armor, and super foods,Irarely lose unless its 4 to 1or my oponent has an ultra DOT (which happens).
The equilibrium is an outstanding ability, but i rarely need to use it.If I were human it would be like being a zabby with2 permanent brandy hits.
There's a loss of a few special abilities besides equilibrium, but since I'll be a range fighter again I wont worry too much about that, cause I'll have my tanks around to help out if I need it (and an ATST)...
The bottom line is a human has higher mental stats than a zabby, especially when dancer/musician buffed, and as a rifleman that will play amore significantrole in spamming headshot3, rather than using equilibrium once per hour.
just mho

Just because a human has a higher focus then a zabrak doesn't mean it makes them any better. Afocus stat of 16,000,000 is no more effective then a focus stat of 1600 which is very easily obtained as a zabrak. It's like using headshot3 on a kreetle instead of headshot1. They are both going to get the job done just the same.I personally don't mind eating an extra arhise to have the equilibrium ability. I've used it many many times and the hour timer really isn't an issue when you figure it's usually the deciding factor of a drawn out battle and those don't happen too often back to back. But I'll just let my PvP rating speak for itself on that one.

I have both a zabrak and a human riflman, and while Ido love the equalibrium abilty for PvP, It takes a lot more to get to that magic 1600 focus. i'd much rather use that stomace space for anti kd food, mist ect. but then again, my human is a master rifleman/commando, pretty sad defenses. I basically have to stack defenses for my zabby riflamn so i can fill my stomach with mindfood. bear in mind in all this, that i do more base PvP than anything else, where long drawn out fights are the norm, not the exception.
needless to say, i have t use very differnet tactics on both, Myt zabrack is usually then one spamming HS3, while the human uses a mix of flurry2 (witha carbineer with that o so sweet chargshot2 backing me up) flushing shot 2, SS2, suprresion fire ect, then rushing up and finishing up with flamecones....
