Thread: Slicing suggestions for my new HLR :-)

I posted this in the BH forum, but wanted to your the opinion of the riflefolk before I get it sliced and ADK'd :-)



Heavy Lightning Rifle
Base Attack Speed: 2.53
Damage: 463-1141
Elemental Damage: 40
Accuracy: 62 <---drool
Wound: 33.35%
Base DPS: 333.14
SAC: 82


I am wondering what you all would suggest for smuggler modifications to this weapon. I am MBH/MRM and from what I am thinking the damage is already capped, SAC is capped, speed is near capped (think its 2.5 for rifles, but not sure). Would anything but a full critical slice be of any use on this beauty?

Nice weapon, very nice. Extremely close to the damage cap too.


The accuracy is definitely the work of a nice looted scope from a BH mission. It's also SAC capped, and speed is pretty good too.



1) With that accuracy, you can put a SAC pup on it. If you do so, I'd recommend a 100% critical shot slice.


2) If you want to put a damage pup on it, which won't really increase the damage that much but maybe around 1250 max damage at most (because I think damage pups also have a cap), then it won't pay off for the increase in speed. You would slice it tier1 in speed and tier2 in critical shot.


3) You can also fully slice it in speed and put a SAC pup, so you can fire extremely fast and never really worry about your action bar dropping.



What I'd do is, not push myself further, and just do a full critical shot slice and put a SAC pup and not worry about the speed. As I said, the speed is pretty sweet as it is already.



Some even say that +accuracy on guns don't really have an effect, but -accuracy on guns DO have an effect. You should test it out with a SAC pup first to see if this is really the case.

And on a side note, speed slice cap is lower than the crafted cap, but damage slice cap is lower than the crafted cap. So I think you can pass the speed cap on the rifle by a full speed slice.


I'd still go for a full critical slice.



(Speed cap, crafted, is 2.17. It's your choice, either a full speed slice and a SAC pup, or ignore that and put a SAC pup + full critical slice)

Damage pup it and get a full critical slice.
That'll be a 1325 max pup'd gun.

Oh, and to the poster who thought damage pups have a cap, they don't. Ever seen a 1425 pup'd max Powerhammer?? I have.

Slice for speed baby!!

With a 12% speed slice you'll end up with:


Speed: 2.23 (+0.30)


Damage: 463 - 1141

Elemental: 40


BaseDPS: 332.81 => 378.19(+45.38 = +13.64%)


Then depending on whether you're a speed or a damage freak throw a nice PuP on, eat some action foods, and commence with the destruction.

Please don't ruin thisbeauty with a critical slice. ^^
