So what do you all feel needs to be in it?

  • leveling?

  • skills and how they work together?

  • tactics?

  • Newb advice?

  • quests for rifleman equipement?

  • other?

Please give me ideas what you feel should be added to the new Rifleman profession guide (will be on the front page at some point)

All the above and perhaps the stats on various rifles?

I think it may be broad, but perhaps a section on the end-game for a master rifleman.

What can we do well at master? Questing? Looting? PvPing?

How do we fit into each of those end-game realms?

Also maybe a templating section discussing what compliments Master Rifleman the best and different views for different templates.

Perhaps also break down tacticsinto how we play ingroups as well as being the solo sniper (har har har).

I'd maybe take it from Novice, going through each box, explaining how the new abilites/specials work, and in what situation they work best. Then an overall tactics bit at the end, explaining various ways to do their job. But really go in depth, right down to how the enemy behaves after a certain attack (conceal shot comes to mind for this).

Include some NPC city Trainers. For those lone gunmen out there. I'd suggest some sample stats of normal crafted as well as some krayted examples. Have to include PvE and PvP content possibilities. Maybe try and define a rifleman's role (that part is hard because of cross-classing, believe me I have 6 novices lol) That's all I can think of ATM.

This guide is a great idea, but it's going to be limited as how useful it will be mainly because a lot of the combat population takes more than one combat profession. To make a Riflemans guide would be like telling half the story. If you were going to make this (and maybe you are) into a Rifleman, as well as Rifleman + insert 2nd combat prof then that would be of greatest use. Although that would take a lot of work. I'm sure we'd all be happy to lend out views based upon our templates if you are up for the challenge. I'll even divulge my template secrets

All the correspondents have been asked if they could submit on their own professions and on a host of other details. So it will not be totally standalone. It is meant to be a help to people looking at the profession.

Adding information about the different rifles anad how to get them would be great. Also an explanation on the different skills and how they should be used. Anything else is really a variable on a persons playing style and overall template. For instance I am a MRifle/MBH and my father is a MRifle/MRanger. We both use rifles and we both use rifle specials, besides that we play totally different games.

You might want to add in max and min dmg, sac and speed for our rifles. I think you can get these off the weaponsmith boards. This will help people decide what is a good rifle and if they come accross any krayt tissue it will allow them to help a weaponsmith know what to experiment on. Right now I think dmg is capped or there is a serious lack of return on dmg experimentation on weapons once they reach a certain point. At that point it would be better to experiment on SAC cost or speed instead.

Also it might be a good idea to explain SAC cost and how to manage it as a rifleman. I know from the hunting groups I've gone out with a lot of rifleman blow through their action bar as fast as can and have nothing left if the group gets agroed or someone makes a mistake. It really sucks when a creature warps on you and you don't have enough action left to knock it down and snare it right away. This might fall under tactics, but SAC may be important enough to have its own section.

How specials work together might be tough since there are so many cross profession specials that work great together. I would maybe just explain each of our rifle specials in detail and at the end have 1 example of it working with another type of special, not so much how they work with specific specials.

To cut down on your work you might want to cut and paste from other peoples posts. I don't think anyone on these boards will mind you stealing their posts as long as you give credit to the original poster. Another thing you might want to do is enlist PsycoticChipmunk to write a passage from the riflenomicon after each section. I saw that he posted recently so I know he is still around somewere.

This is a great idea Ackehence, good luck.

tactics:

when you need to open range on someone. Kneecap shot, then Unequip your rifle. get to your desired range, the reequip. your weapon penalty for moving negates the relative movement penalty of kneecap shop, you won't be able to open range unless you unequip your rifle, in fact they may even gain on you.

What is the deal with rifles? I am level 31, and the best rifle I can find to use is a level-14 spraystick. I even talked to a weaponsmith, and apparently a spraystick is as good as I'm going to get until I reach level 40. What is that about? What if I want a weapon that does NOT suck? Dang, before the stinkin' CU I had a T21 and it was AWESOME, and now I'm using this lame spraystick? Where's the justice, I ask you?

Suggestions:

The use of other profession specials by a rifleman and the use of rifleman specials using other weapons. What cross-combinations are effective?

Actual DPS calculations from combat for each of the specials at a given level with the same weapon, taking into consideration the action bar depletion and accuracy penalties (calculated from the combat spam).

Effective combinations of specials for solo PvE.

Rifle stat ranges.

Ways of overcoming "hate," and other strategic work-arounds for rifleman shortcomings.
