I am clvl 15, and having a really hard time finding a place to level up. If you have an answer for me, please be specific because I have only had the game for a few days, and don't know where everything is or how everything works.

That said, I can't find a place to level up. Everyone tells me to gurk hunt on Lok. No one will invite me into the group because I am clvl 15, no matter how long I wait around.

Since I am a new player and quite poor, I can't afford the best gear. I don't even know what the best gear is. I have some ragtag armor that someone gave me, most of it is half wore out. I use a DLT20a rifle. What new rifle should I look for to use? I have a hunch that for some reason, I am seriously underpowered. I cannot easily take monsters with levels of 10-15, when I am clvl 15. Something is wrong.

I would probably be easier to help in game. If you are on bria and have a minute to give me a hand, send a /tell to ericgooch.

I hope someone can help set me straight. I feel pretty lost.

For new players looking for what weapons to use this thread is awesome. Tells you what CL a weapon requires, so you can find out what you can use next.

As for where to hunt, that's a tricky one. Your best bet is to try and get into a guild that lets you hunt with them. That way you can get into those high lvl Gurk groups on Lok, or in Piket groups on Dantooine. Since the CU is still so new, I don't know what else to tell you. Except maybe try the outpost for your faction (Rori for Rebels and Talus for Imps). You won't get fantastic exp like you would on Lok or Dant, but you can get some decent loot as well as faction, and it might be easier to atleast find someone to duo with.

Go to the Mining Outpost on Dantooine, and join a hunting group. Get Bols in any direction, difficulty around 79.

You should be done with Rifleman in a matter of days, if you have the time to do it that is.

Don't worry about money right now, after you are done grinding, you should have quite a bit saved up from all the missions.

I am pretty new also, just hit lvl 34 last night (hit some lvl 4 boxes in Rifleman, lvls go up fast...).

Everyone in the forum is pretty helpful, just most haven't been lvl 15 in a looooong time, so here is what I have learned so far.

If you can, go out and group with some lvl 80's, mainly because you can get lvl 82 missions which will give you nice xp, and most 80's can cut through the mobs fairly quickly. From what I have seen that is why you want to group with higher level players, you don't seem to get more xp just because they are lvl 80 players, it is just that the lvl 82 mobs are 2 higher than your group, fighting lvl 17 mobs when the highest lvl in your group is 15 in the same size group will give you same xp from what I have seen. The other nice thing about lvl 80 groups is the missions pay close to 10K credits instead of the 800 or whatever you get at 15.

All you have to do is get in one shot and you will get full xp. I have found in these situations try to target through one of the higher lvl players as you are assured to hit the right mob. This is especially important if you are hunting picketts and those mobs which come in big groups, if you are the only one hitting it, it will come after you, never fun when it is 65 levels above you.

If you can't find a lvl 80 group and you want to solo, make sure you have a rifle that is as close to your level as possible. I had a big problem around lvl 10 as I was still using CDEF stuff at 15 you shouldbe using a spraystick if you have novice rifleman. If you know anyone that is a creature handler, try to get a pet, not to really use to fight but to group with, you get the group bonus xp which is nice. You won't go through the mobs as fast so the XP won't fly, but it isn't too bad.

I have found it really doesn't matter much where you hunt, just what you hunt, when soloing I stay away from humanoid mobs and those with ranged attacks, I hunt on Tatooine a lot and I like Banthas, they seem fairly slow and don't come in groups, Bols, wort's, Womp Rats are all good for this same reason.

Also, I would get rid of the armor, you probably don't have much mitigation and it will take away from your speed and accuracy.

Also, in case you didn't know, the highest level missions you can get in the big cities is 15, anything higher than that you need to go to the player cities.

Hope this helps, and don't worry, it does seem to get easier as you go along.

I have been taking a few new people out on my server to help them level up. I know the original poster isn't from Flurry, but if any new rifleman or riflewoman wants help leveling or learning your profesion I will be happy to take you out in a level 80 group.

I did this the other night for a level 4 and a level 15 and no one died . It is a good way to get exp if you are bored with the content they give you out of Mos Eisley and a good way to start making a bank roll. Send me an email or tell if you see me on and I will be happy to help you out.

If you do get someone to help you out in a level 80 group I would suggest getting mountain dewbacks or Ronto from a player city. These 2 creatures don't agro as bad and don't run as fast as Bantha or Eiopi. And Bantha have been ignoring my knockdown lately. I get it to work 50% of the time, but the other half of the time they resist it and I think the timer is set when they resist.

thanks everyone.
I bought a spraystick, nice weapon. Thanks for the suggestion. I also found a cheap E11 for a little later.
I have a question about groups. If it is just me and my lvl80 friend, we both only get 1xp from each kill. What do i have to do to change that?

When you group with a level 80, you are bound by the rules of a level 80. Since a level 80 can ony get exp from creatures that are level 75 and up, you have to fight creatures that are level 75 and up to see any real exp. Make sure your friend can solo level 80 creatures without too many problems since you will not be helping out at all against a level 80 creature.

I know your frustration well, man. I was once in your shoes. But 2 weeks after my frustration level was almost to the point where I was gonna quit, I joined a guild and that made all the difference. Guilds (at least the good ones) will hook you up with weapons, food, armor, cash, rides, pets, etc because they want you to level just as much as you do. You will almost always be able to train for free, as long as someone in your group has the skills you want of course.

I just wanted to speak my piece about this topic. I am CL16 novice rifle-twi, and I guess I play between the regular hours of the US, Euro, and Pacific Rim players because it's hard for me to get groups. I've lucked out a couple times, and have a friend that I can sometimes hunt for an hour or two with, but other than that I'm on my own.

I played a wizard, bard and druid when I played EQ, and since I kept getting incapped trying to go toe to toe with CL5 nunas, I decided to try kiting like I used to do in EQ. It works, sometimes. I've found that you need the range you can only get once you train novice rifleman (the spraystick) and need to get a few shots in before you use kneecap shot (snare). Try to run in as straight a line as possible, and when you have to circle back, make wide turns so your target doesn't turn inside your turn and close the distance. I set Headshot as my repeating attack and the extra damage makes CL15 kaadus drop pretty fast. If I do start to get hit, I use Firearm Strike to knock them down, get some distance and try to snare again.

As far as armor is concerned, I am not using any. I have some bio-engineer enhanced clothes that give me around +40 to ranged and melee defense. I was told that until I start to fill the higher boxes on the various trees, my rate of fire is slower, my accuracy poorer, and my movement rate reduced. I'm finding that unless I time something wrong, I may only get hit a few times.

I kept novice entertainer from the Mos Eisley quests. I can buff my own inspiration, as well as others. Inspiration gives a +10% bonus to gained xp and faction,as well as something for crafters. It's worth it to head to the cantina for a few minutes before going into the field. From the scout profession, Exploration 2 is handy for the terrain negotiation and Mask Scent. The Hunting tree not only grants you bigger harvests from your kills as you advance, but more knowledge when you /examine the creature. And from the Medic profession, I kept Novice Medic, for now. If I need to heal twice in quick succession, I can use bacta shot and a stim.

You can also use food and drink to enhance yourself, but I know little about it as I am just now starting to experiment with it.

Oh, regarding missions, I've been taking missions no more than 2 CL's below me. It's slower xp gain in the long run, but if you are soloing, it's too risky at our level range to try for even cons or higher. Good luck with it, I'm learning more each time I log in, and for the most part having a blast.
