Here is a thread where TH describes what they will change.

It's a bit early for speculations, but this is what I think he says:

- we will NOT change, fix or balance anything for the next months, becasue we are re-writing stuff anyway

- we will realease the new systems in phases, so thing will be screwed up even more until we are done in several month

- instead of doing any balancing and testing, we will jsut shoot it to you guys and see what happens

I'm sorry to sound negative, but I really really don't like it. It's a nice vision, but if even TH says that is will screw up things for the next month, and given the prooven history of incompetency and non-communicating, I really don't look forward to play this game during this time. Maybe it's time to take a break, let other players pay to beta test the new system, and come back in about 6 month when they finaly got it right.

I really don't see how they will be doing any fixing or balancing in the next time. The standard response to probably most of our issues will be "we don't fix or change it, becasue the system will change at some point anyway".

I really hope I am wrong, too pessimistic and just ranting. I'm just afraid I might be right...

This might sound like a dumb question, but where on earth did you get this whole "instead of doing any balancing and testing, we will jsut shoot it to you guys and see what happens"

that staement seems kind of contrary to the whole "We took the HAM changes out so we could test them better with the other changes." What you seem to be forgetting is that they have an internal testing team. Just because we don't see any changes doesn't mean they arn't being made and tested as we speak, even after that it's going to be put on test center. Seems to me you've just convinced yourself that you don't like the changes and are now trying to think of reasons why.

I don't know what to say because everything he said was about philosophy and vision and nota detailed plan.

All I know is we are all about dealing fast damage to you quick, thats all we have. No KD's, No tanking ability, just Machinegunner mow you down quick damage. They want to make a system where it's more tactical and well we(Riflemen) truly are not that tactically diverse.

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.

Well, he states that they will develop and deploy the system in phases.

First month, you get creature changes on Testcenter. Well, yes, you can test them, but they are out of context. People will report 'this is overpowered, this is underpowerd", and TH will say "I told you so, it's becasue the other systems are not there yet".

The second month, creature changes go live. You now have the unbalanced creatures on live. Weapon changes go on TC. People will no test and say "well, this weapon is overpowered". And TH will say "this is because the HAM balancing is not in yet, it is not supposed to make sense yet".

With the phasing model, there will be no way to test the new system completely before we have to use parts of it. So how can this be tested and balanced? It can't. It won't. The only thing that could be done is the theoretical number-balancing things the designers do before putting anything on TC or live, and from my experience with SOE so far, if we just rely on the designers and internal QA doing their job, we are lost...

good point.

but seriously it's not like they listen even if things are properly tested.

I have little confidence that the developers can execute this vision, especially with the incomprehensible phase-in approach. Indeed, as CalVines pointed out, it just gives the Devs the excuse of "well of course it's not working yet, the other part is still in development". I find most disturbing the complete lack of any plans for better aggro management, which would greatly enhance PvE content or lag reduction, which would greatly enhance PvP content - neither of these critical systems is mentioned in their vision statement.

Quite honestly, the Devs havehad this kind of vision in beta with "BH's will hunt bounties", "Smugglers will smuggle", "Droid Engineers will...umm" - just go read the profession descriptions in the manual to see the difference between vision and actual execution. It's the execution that our Devs are incapable of doing - we always seem to run into some sort of technical issue that screws up execution, and thus we fall short of the vision. The phased approach provides a built-inexcuse and obviates the need to assemble a complete, working system which would expose execution flawswhich limit or change the vision.

Then they should add phase five: Balance and fix all the things that aren't right with our new vision.

Click here for proof that the Devs hate Riflemen. And here's the kicker! (Seperate thread)

Making a great controversial point no one can argue: Thread Deleted
There are few things you can post, for everything else, there's a CSR waiting.

I'm not very impressed with the changes so far. (Unless you include last months patch, which I don't.)

The way they want the AP system to work is awful, a flat 25% reduction per AP over ARI couldlive withbut 25% of the resist is a slap in the face.

I havn't seen anything about T21 resources changing.

Damage mitigation isa bigPvP nerffor riflemen that don't buff their mind. (exclude human rifle/docs who have 1100/1100/800 mind stats.)

On the other hand 2.5x melee damage being removed doesn't really give me much joy, I liked having a profession that was that bit harder to play.

I guess the only thing we can do is wait and see, but I have a feeling we will be seeing big changes to the way rifle works, including a speed cap.
