Hi all, fairly new to this game, decided to become a rifleman as i like ranged combat currently at 1101 and my other class is medic (just about to master it once i got the app xp) But CH seems lot more fun than becoming a master doc

was hoping MRM/MCH's could post of what they think of the combo, how pvp is and pve, solo hunting/ group hunting and stuff like that...

or should just continue up the rifleman/doctor route and forget bout CH???

I'm not a CH so I won't try to say if it's fun or not, but I do know that CH is bad for PvP if you do much of that. Master Rifleman/Master Doctor on the other hand is easily on of the best.

As far as solo PvE, I think MR/MCH is very good since you get tanks to hold the target at bay while you hang back and spam Strafe2. For group hunting, I get annoyed with creatures myself and find that they don't do that much damage- especially with 10-20 people wailing on the same target.

There are at least a few MR/MCHs here, so I'm sure one of them will be able to tell you more than I can

MCH is a great skill to compliment rifles. you can go MCH master rifle and still have 52 points left over to go 4340 medic or take up novice brawler for intimidate and still have some medic skills or master marksmen or scout.

as far as PVP i dont have any problem with running around without armour in PVP. i dont PVP all that much but when i do i am far from the first person to see the cloners. during the bria BoB fight that eventually crashed the server i fought for 45 minutes straight unbuffed unarmoured in a massive PVP war quite successfully.

My alt is Master Rifle, Master CH with Medic 4.2.4.0 much like Barb-wire's template (and has been since December) I left off the 3rd box of treatment speed so I could let friends teach me ranged support 1 for APs (got a friend heavily into his silent prof grinding and I don't plan on going Jedi myself). I find I can easily handle most stuff without my pets if I'm buffed but they come into their own when used against tougher mobs, provided you heal them alot. I would say medic is almost essential for this since pet stims have a slow timer. It can be alot of fun taking on nightsisters or krayts with just you and your pet/s. Also an often overlooked purpose of master CH is money making - I run missions on dant while buffed and simply pull out clvl 70 worth of pets and a probe droid and group with them to allow me to pull difficulty 54 missions without even needing another player to group with me. I leave the pets in town for these missions though since I find that I can do them faster without pets and the risks are still minimal while wearing armour with buffs and brandy.

think i might go for CH, see how it goes, as doctor isn't that hard to get (get a tumbler) so i can easily change if CH isn't my thing

Cheers for the help guys

CH works great with any ranged proffesion.

I have beena master pistoleer and carabiner. Im now working on master rifel.

The good thing about getting pets to tank for you is that all you need to be able to hunt is lots of brandy. I dont bother looking for doctor buffs.. ever. and the only times im buffed is when i grp with a frind of mine thats a doctor.

If your carefull and get some nice composite armor you wont visit the clone center often. The last time i cloned was after i got hit with disease from some critter. Then i just said arr dammn, pulld my pet out of comabat, stored it and got myself killd.

I'll give you a disclaimer that I am no longer a CH because it is too ineffective in PVP. I think that combination was a lot of fun though and is great for PVE. Here's a post that was going on earlier today that may be interesting reading for you regarding this combo.

I suggest master riflemen/master creature handler with 4040 scout (cover the mins for CH, but also nice for the harvesting skills and terrain negotiation) and some medic and ranged support 4 in marksmen. You willl have the most useful skills and will still be able to have plenty of medic. I personally think trapping and survival in scout are not worth the skill points - haven't used or seen a tent in months and traps never did much for me.

You'll be effective in PVE, but not extremely effective in PVP with your template. You will be able to take out large groups of moderate strength mobs with the pets up front taking for you while you wear no armor at all. Heck, if you migrated your stats back towards health and action enough, you can effectively play without buffs - a concept few even fathom anymore. You will not be able to take down the highest mobs with your pets out - they will be dead before you finish a krayt or a kimoglia or a NS elder. For PVP leave the pets in your datapad for most fights unless you don't mind watching them die in a couple of shots. Pets with specific special attacks can serve a purpose in duels and such where they dizzy, stun, or knock down, but that is about it.

CH/Rifle is a lot of fun. When i grew up doing rifle from the begining i had to be ch due to wookies not having armor and 2.5 melee dmg mag, but i did have a lot of fun. They r great to let pets take first agro so ur friends working on low lvl melee can get good xp that way. plus ch is AWSOME for getting high paying missions with a group. And now with more BE's around and being able to pull pets anywhere things have improved some for ch's. And even though pets rn't great for pvp anymore, its still fun to run through theed with a kimo named "IMPeater" lol

Im currently 2 1 1 1 RM and 1 2 1 1 CH and agree thatthis combo isloads of fun. I also have medic. If I need money, I do quenker lairs in Dant or Drall missions near Coronet. Both pay 5K and take about 5-10mins. I am never buffed and my only expense is Brandy which does wonders on the mind pool. The most fun part though is finding and taming creatures. Makes a good change from hunting and looting and adds challenge and variety to the game.

Yes, much fun. Pets are great guards in case it all goes to heck.

this is my template.

Master Rifle, MCH, Scout 4-0-4-0,marksman 4-0-0-0, Medic 4-3-4-0 no skill points left.

this allows me to hunt unbuffed save for mindfoods, it allows me to pull virtually any mission on any terminal on the average, be it Blurgg or Screecher missions on endor, to 26k missions on Dant, to bull rancor missions on Dath.

it allows you to harvest meat hide etc for cash as theres usually contracts out for some good meat by docs or chefs and be's

the medic allows me to use Stim d's which heal for around 2k per heal on the average. very useful for pet healing as i combo that with special Pet Stim D's that i get my guilds BE to make for me.

its 1 of the most self sufficient templates in the game imho. not much you have to rely upon other than buying weapons and armor.my personal preference for armor while unbuffed is encum sliced ubese just in case a mob aggros you instead of the pet.

I too am a Master Rifleman/Master CH, but I have TKA 4/0/0/0 as my third profession. My mind is 1100, so with powerboost it jumps to 1650. Pop a few brandies, send your pets in, an dshoot away. I sometimes keep my 3rd pet next to me incase I get aggro'd. I don't even have to go to town to get a buff since I rarely get aggro'd. Plus, TKA 4/0/0/0 lets you heal all your wounds, poisons, diseases, and in the rare case that I get incapped, I can use /forceofwill to stand back up. As for pets getting wounded and not having med skills to heal them fast, I have 18 pets. Store the ones that are wounded and pull out a fresh one.
