Thread: Is the Ranged Support line worth the skill points?

SWG noob question time, the topic pretty much says it all. I'm trying to plan out the best use of my skill points while mastering Rifleman and Creature Handler. My play style is 100% PvE, I don't participate in PvP at all.

The Ranged Support line of Marksman seems to offer fairly minor rewards for the points invested and I'm strongly considering just dropping it so I can buy into Medic for a bit more self sufficiency.

I haven't been impressed with the Threaten/Warning/Suppression shots, andTumble seems to have no use other than helping PL medical XP. Are the minor defense bonuses and the Aim command actually that useful, or can I safely drop these boxes?

Well i could comment since your pure PVE, but i know that since i PVP i love the Randed Support line. One of my attacks, since we have no Knockdown, is to use FlurryShot2, then Supression fire from ranged support. If both of thise hit and work, then its a Dizzy, Posture Change Down, which hopefully causes a Knockdown.

Well if they everbalance buffs/armor, threaten and warning shot will prove to be quite useful again. But really if you don't PVP it's value is negligable in PVEsince armor + buffs = MOB's can't hurt you.

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.

I am also a nearly 100% PvE player. I had those abilities for a while and I never used them, so I dropped the line and picked up novice medic. At master rifleman, you'll rarely miss.

I found ranged support useful in PvE while grinding to Master Rifle. ThreatenShot and WarningShot were great prior to buffs and when armor was rare. They were also good for getting those BAF MOBs to back off prior to getting AoE attacks.

Aim was vital when using ConcealShot at low level also.

But once I hit Master I didn't have a real use for it. As others have said the only real use was for the FlurryShot / SuppresionFire combo to make a NPC or PC do the KD effect. But I picked up LowBlow from Smuggler to get the same effect. Plus it seems to stick more often.

It just comes down to personal preference. If you are a Master Rifle and mostly fight creature MOB I would say there is no reason to keep it really.
