Thread: Are mind costs severe?

Hello, as of now I'm a 0/4/4/0 Doctor and a 4/0/0/4 CM, I want to now compliment my skills with a combat profession. I am deciding whether to go with MasterCarbineer or MasterRifleman.A lot of people say that rifles are reallygood though I'mcurious to know, are mind costs that severe for specials?
If a character was wearing full composite, buffed on doctor buffs, 2 brandy's and mind food...would specials such asheadshot 3, strafe shot 2 or flushing shot2 do much dmg to the mind? The last thing I would want is for thebar that I can't heal to go dangerously low.On average, whatare the mind costs?Is rifleman worth it, keeping in mind that I want todo ranged PvE mostly with somePvP.

If buffed with Dancer/Musician buffs. Coupled with Doc buffs and food/drink. There are no specials in any professions that are severe. Getting all those buffs presently you can drop the HAM costs to single digits rather easily.
In raw number the HAM costs for both carbines and rifles are very high. Usually 100 or so. But factoring buffs it isn't something you are probably going to have to worry about much if at all.
However when the new HAM system for specials comes out all bets are off.

Yeah, with buffs, food, and drinks, you can spam any special to the end of time. But if you are asking how bad they are, I can usually only get aboutfive HS3 on only my mind stats and I'm fully mind migrated.

If your focus is above 1300ish after subtracting armor encumbrances, specials cost 1 or 0 and you can spam them indefinitely. With less than that, they actually cost something and will drain your mind bar pretty fast.

Lets put it like this. Without buff/food your screwed.
With brandy, and that focus/willpower food you'll be totally fine even in high encubrance comp armor. 
Just remeber to take it off when your food goes bye bye cause your HAM costs will shot through the roof. =)

They must be, seeing as how disinclined the Devs have been to do anything associated with their minds whilest making this game.

For me personally, my health and action ham costs actually is worse than mind.
With mind, I can buff up with food and drink, but with comp armor on, without buff, i have to heal myself everytime i kill some higher level mod. Sometime i have to stop half way cuz my H and A dropped too low.

as master doc/master riflemen im always buffed i take the brandies or canape for rifle specials if i need them ,and i still dont have a problem then with mind drain from healing allies in major battles, just use the mind foods wisely and you'll be ok
