Thread: OK guys. Let's not nerf armor's resists, but let's change the calculator that deals with AP

Players with low-AP weapons gripe for the Jawa Ion rifle to have AP0...and say that armor is too powerful...
How about this, then? Instead of lowering the max resists on armor (at this time), change the calculator that deals with AP vs. AR.
Right now, and I got this from the Holocron, if AP > AR, for every level of difference the weapon will do 25% more damage. So AP3 vs AR1 will result ina damage of (damage) x (1.25)^2, then the target's resistances factored in.
If AR > AP, however, for every level of difference the weapon will do 50% less damage before resists are figured. So AP0 vs AR1 will result in (damage) x 0.5, then the target's resistances factored in. (There seems to be a bug with vulnerability as it relates to AP, with some AP weapons not getting their extra AP > AR damage against targets vulnerable to their damage type. This is a separate issue.)
So what is the solution I propose? For AP > AR, no change. Leave the calculator at 25%. For AR > AP, change the reduction calculator to 25% for both PvP and PvE. So if an AP0 weapon goes against an AR2 target, then the damagewould (damage) x 0.75 x 0.75 rather than the current (damage) x 0.50 x 0.50, al before resists are factored.
For example, a DLT20a rifle (AP0, energy dmg) against an AR2 target with 15% energy resists, used in a special move for 500 damage. Under the current system, the true damage is (500 x 0.5 x 0.5) x .85 [take away 15% of damage because of resist] = about 106 damage. With my proposal, the same move would cause (500 x .75 x .75) x .85 = 239 damage. Not a bad percentage increase, huh?
This change wouldn't hurt us riflemen at all, but it would help some of the guys who have lower AP weapons, both in PvP and PvE, so maybe they will have less cause to complain so much that we have the only AP3 weapon in the game that isn't limited to like 30 shots. Besides, some NPCs have had their HAM levels amped to insane amounts. Krayts were 50k, now 300k; Dark Jedi 30k, now 400k. Changing the AP calculator would somewhat compensate for that. So even if you're not a PvPer, this change will help you.
How about it? A change that helps so many, and hurts practically no one.
