Hi,

And for my next trick I will actually include a message.

I'm finding the grind to get to master rifleman really slow, I think it would help a lot if I could use a droid to tank for me, the problem I have is that my droid, a R3 unit doesnt seem to want to attack things, Attack doesnt show on the list of commands in either the radial menu when the droid is out in the game world or in the menu when its in my schematic pad. I have tried saying 'Attack' and a ? just appers above its head, so my question is, do I need any special type of droid to tank? do I need to do anything particular before I can get a droid to tank? and most importantly how do I get a droid to tank. Also do I have to be grouped with a droid to tank as this can be awkward when in a solo group you dont want to leave

thanks in advance

Galjoss.

Sounds like you need a new droid to me. 1st thing to make sure is that the droid is combat enabled. An R3 by default is not, and needs at least one combat module installed at time of manufacture. However imho the best current pure tank droid is the LE Repair. Get your local droid engineer to build you one and ask him to install 1 combat module and 2 auto-repair modules. Also ask him to use his best resources in the final build and an L6 armour module.

With this combination you will get a droid with 6K+ HAM, 20% resists to all, that can heal itself ever so slightly while it fights but that wont do much damage, and thus wont steal your XP. You will also need a crap load of batteries, and some droid repair kits, type D if possible.

You don't have to be grouped with the droid to get it to attack, but its often best to be as you will also get an XP bonus if hunting solo.

Happy hunting

When you go to a Droid Engineer's shop, look for two things on the droid's details before purchasing: Combat Rating, and HAM. I've gotan R3 with 4800 HAM and Combat Rating of 512. Granted, he can't deal the havok that i do as a Master Rifleman, but he could potentially tank well.

Now, the method of "how" - i believe the best way would be to take the droid, and a big stack of Droid Repair Kits, and sic the pet on the lair. Beasties come out attacking the pet, you sit back and snipe them off - or get to 0030 rifleman and use StrafeShot2 (it's an AOE). got it?

Edit: Screw the R3, go with what the above poster said - the LE Repair Droid.

Dared of Edge (Dantooine, Tarquinas) made me a LE2 Repair Droid that autoheals with the following stats:

5K HAM

40% Resists to EVERYTHING

Combat Module

Autorepair Module

Using it as a tank, I can take down a Huurton Huntress lair (on Dantooine) by spamming Flushing Shot 2 in less than two minutes. (Not a Master Rifleman, yet)

Just for general info on the resists, the real resist value with the best armour modules is 20%, the 1st time you call the droid it displays 20%. Subsequent calls however display the resists as 40%. By all accounts this is a bug and not actually true and the resists are calculated by the game at 20%.

Thanks for the great replies, just one quick question, roughly how much will one of those LE repair droids cost?
