Thread: What rifle should I buy as novice rifleman?

I'm looking to grind xp at dantooine what weapon do you think I should buy. I'm looking to spend max 20-30k on a good rifle. Please post what weapon you think I should buy and what stats I should be able to get for that kind of money (unsliced, unpoweruped).

Krayt DL20 is your friend, but will be costly depending where you are at.

Laser Rifle, but get one with decent min damage and use a 33% speed powerup if you have to.

speed sliced laser-- on kauri, they go for 10k-12k creds. typical values are 40-400, 4.3 spd. (after slice)

Speedsliced laser is the way to go, and azuri sells them for 8K (I think, but don't quote me on that one).
Buy one, slice it, if its not a speedslice, get another one, slice it again, if it's not ... well... I'm sure you got the point by now
Use a speed powerup btw... until you are master.. increasing the speed at which you fire should be the main goal...

bleh, I'm really having troubles reading today, just noticed that you're not on my server, so I don't know where you can get weapons :/

Well it's not so much where to buy thing as what to buy. I need to know the approximate stats to look for. Right now I have a laser rifle, it work great the first 4 shot but when the mob comes close it's fully impossible to hit it, even with pointblank shot. So right now I have a poor spraystick to defend myself with, after using my rifle.
Tips?

ForceMuppet, that is when you whip out the damage sliced Spraystick and hammer /overchargeshot1 at them- most spraysticks I see are 1.8 speed 42-180~ some, if you can find one sliced to 240+ damage sliced.

Usually, HS2 is the way to kill something fast at your level (if you aren't using it already). Make sure you are prone, and at 60-64 meters if possible. If you wanna bother trying to use /cover, I'm told it'll allow you to get off another 2-3 (maybe more) shots before the creature aggros. If accuracy is still a problem, you can buy some power-ups that improve accuracy. Best of luck!

Proning works, but I prefer to kneel at 56-60m in range that way I can get right up and move when I'm in trouble, with a +79 @ 60m ideal I get +48 while kneeling which is plenty. Once you get the cert to use a DXR6b you'll have +50 standing, moving and whatsoever and it'll do you a good grind (mine is +111 ideal range).

Spraystick!!
Always have one when you start your grind... after a while it becomes useless, but in the beginning its really helpful.
Also, get some citrus snowcake (I think it was snowcake), it will increase your accuracy by 25.
Anyways, I made Master Marksman yesterday, now I'm finally shooting everything at speedcap (got +98 speed now).
Gotta go out do mokks and jantas today
