Thread: A few questions from an aspiring Rifleman
I was a longtime master swordsman master do. I decided to drop sword and go up the Rifleman tree. I am currently a 1-0-1-3 with about 50% way to the forth box in the forth tree. I have read the sticky postings above but I have a few questions.
1. Is it worth using some of my combat xp to go up the 4 three in marksman?
2. What is rifleman's most powerful attack.
3. My current plan is to go up the first tree for the accuracy increase. Should I go up the defense next.
4. The rifle you can get from Deathwatch, Is it any good?
5. What food buffs Other than brandy would you recommend?
Last one.
6. In you opinion what is the best thing about being a rifleman?
Thanks for your time.Cant wait to join you guys in master.

Marksman Support IV is very useful when levelling Rifleman- especially without a secondary profession. Since you have Doctor(I think that's what you meant above), you won't likely need Marksman Support. The first box, where you get the /aim command, tends to be useful though.
2. What is rifleman's most powerful attack.
Strafeshot2 which is in the Master box is a 5x AoE attack. It's generally considered the 'best' shot(and often is
). Before MR, Flushingshot2 is a very good shot. It has 4x damage with a possible Stun effect. It is also AoE. If you are better off focusing on a single pool(the tougher the mob, the better this idea gets), HS3 is your best shot.
3. My current plan is to go up the first tree for the accuracy increase. Should I go up the defense next.
Here are the things you want first: Accuracy, Flushingshot2, Concealshot(though I don't think you'll be needing this as much as most people do when levelling). After those, get Mitigation 2 from thesecond branch. Then to MR
4. The rifle you can get from Deathwatch, Is it any good?
We don't get a rifle from the DWB. We do get one from the Corvette and Geonosian Cave though. The Berserker rifle from the Corvette is AP0 with Heat damage. It's mostly used for show by the few who have one. They are currently not craftable due to a bug involving serial numbers on the looted component for them. The DXR-6b 'Tenloss' rifle from the Geonosian Cave is AP and Acid damage. Very useful
You can start using it at Counter-Sniping II.
5. What food buffs Other than brandy would you recommend?
Ahrisa adds 400+ to Focus for ~45 minutes at 33 filling. Canape adds 700+ to Focus and Willpower. If I recall, it has near 33 filling as well with a duration of about 10 minutes. I prefer Ahrisa to Canape, but Canape can be better in tighter situations. In the worst situations(basically just the DWB), Muon Gold(spice) is good to have. +500 to Mind/Focus/Willpower for 10 minutes with the opposite effect for 3 minutes afterwards.
Last one.
6. In you opinion what is the best thing about being a rifleman?
I used to really enjoy the challenge of it and the feeling of being unique. For me, both of those are gone now.
What is left is our ability to do lots of damage, really fast. Not quite as fulfilling as the other things, but it's handy.

Thx all for the info.
Its been kind of crazy at first switching from the melee concept to ranged concept. I am in Love with conceal shot for PVE. I haven't tried out PVP yet. I probably wont till I hit master. I really like this profession. The only thing is I am burning through weapons.
