Now Ive been through alot in this game, Alot I was hear the first week of launch and have no regrets. Ive never Been a Big PVP guy. Now with that understood I thought that would be the next thing I would try out.
Now Somebody Explain this to me, I have a T21 Withthe following stats, 6.9 229min 840max with a pwr up on it. Now Some guys got a 2k pair of vibro knucklers and I get beat. I spent Milions for mines and this is wha the devs give me. Now Im a Master Rifleman been one for some time andthis is what I get.
Pwnd by a Cheap pair of Vibros or A Gaffitt Batton.
With that said we are now in the
KrateWarz Days.
I wouldn't say that its that severe.
I haven't been soloed by a player using pure Teras Kasi as offense in a long time. In fact, it strikes me as a pretty easy target, seeing as to how it has no Ranged Mitigation and not as powerfull at targetting that one magic pool as anotherRifleman or aSwordsman.
Kiting and Snowcake are pretty much a must for this proffession when dealing with a triple stacked melee proffession. I'm talking /burstrun if you need to. The game is basically coded in favor of melee right now. All a melee template consists of is a bunch of variables that cause your shots to miss. That's where the pain in the ass is.
A TKM just seems like a well rounded meatshield with a wide variety of attacks, but they aren't that hard to deal with.
A Fencer just takes ridiculously long to kill due to the miss miss dodge miss miss dodge dodge miss factor. But they lack adevestating single pool attack if you have medic with decent speed. Also, I'm a Master doc, so I can manage to get the primary melee offense (Dizzy) off of myself before the posture down.
A Swordman withFoW will usually get me if its overt on overt PvP. They hit the mind on our non-melee mitigated ass hard. And now they'll all be getting enhanced melee speed that puts them on par with the very few Swordsmen that were lucky enough to be swinging hammers at the speedcap with a +25 Two Handed speed tape before the Jedi apocalypse.
Also, a +5 Rifle speed tape makes a world of difference. You can fire any rifle (even a T-21)at the speedcap with +5. Its pretty much mandatory to be firing at the speedcap to handle stackers.
Snowcake,
Running your ass off to stay out of range of /lunges and normal melee attacks,
+ Riflespeed attachments.
People call kiting cheap, or whatever, but I call call it smart, considering the variables and negative range modifiers on our weapons.
There are tactics to make kiting work for you. For instance, I usually try to dizzy the melee before if it looks like I have to burstrun, just so they can't burst after me. Always make sure I get them into a wide open area, too. If you try to kite melee near obstacles, a smart melee fighter will break line of sight and force you to come back intoclose range to deal more damage.
Its a bunch of stuff you have to figure out, nobody wrote a book on this stuff. But, all in all, Rifleman is still very viable in PvP.

Yeah i guess because you have a better weapon you should always win. /sarcasm off.

You see them 60m away, you shoot at them.
If they run up and start punching you in the face... rathing than trying to hit the guy with your rifle, use melee yourself, TKA perhaps.
In real combat... a sniper doesn't fight in hand to hand with his sniper rifle...er.. at least not that I'v heard =P

Not to Compare the price but you can X's that 2mill for you VK's by 6.
Now on to the next point every body and there mother is a melee, I hate to keep beating that horse but here we go AAAAgin.
Now Ive watched Starwars Yes Starwars at the movie Yes the movie's when It came out so that gives you an Idea. Now This game is to pass fun by but Im competitive always have alway will be. Now the field were playing on doesn't Equal Balance, Now I say balance with one thing in mind. There are the hav's and the hav not's I just think if I gota go into a gun store and by weapons Lets see if I get a good knife and he's gota good gun whats the end results here. Now I see this is a Game (remind you a game I pay to play) Now shouldn't at that point some one would say lets give rifleman a KD, and how about some Dodge with that T21 and just for kicks lets give'm a Good Rifle But when they get close that does a 300 damage mind blow.
I SPEND 12million or more for a elite Rifle few have or will never have and this guy at best spends 2 million and has a knife and were in a gun fight. Or Worse a Baton a stun baton come on guys we gota fix this we have to do something to make the field close.
umm we also have a stun weapon and it has armor peircing... you get beat up by a stun baton you should get some stun armor 40% isn't that hard to find, get an imp PSG to go with it and stun really doesn't hurt you...
lets see a ranged KD for rifleman, along with our ranged dizzy, our nice damage shots to an unhealable pool, andour ranged DB... thats asking for a nerf...
kiting rangedvmelee ranged wins... within melee range rangedvmelee should lose... keep the fight as your fight not as theirs... they call it cheap or whatever, who cares you win... if you really wanna make a melee mad be grouped with an SL, wait till you've been KD'd then have the SL /formup... this will buy you 30 secs off your back time...
also a good PvPer will already have the synthsteak digested, stun armor and the imp PSG... add in some other foods and drugs hotkeyed for emergancy use... the only way to beat them is in a long fight to where their bellies are full and the effects of the food have worn off...

If you let them get close, they should beat you. Rifleman is ranged, they're melee. In close quaters, a profession that's built for melee, SHOULD! whip a profession that's built for range.
Don't say VKs are so cheap, btw. VKs with 200+ damage are usually worth amil or two. You have no clue the stats on the VK you were hit for.
The problem is the game mechanics though, max range (64m) pretty much IS close quarters. The ability to throw a punch at 20m(about 60ft) while gimping a rifle to 64m when that's likely to be the closest thing a rifleman should be shooting at.
