Thread: The Two Best Lines of RIFLEMAN

I'm sure you guys discuss this kind of thing twice a week- but that didn't stop me for bringing the convo back 'round to it-
Background:
I mostly PvE but like to PvP every now and again. I also like CONTENT.
IMHO Jedi- Bounty Hunters- and Smugglers have the best content in the game. I play a Master Twohanded Swordsman/Smugglernow.
The Deal:
I want to create a Bounty Hunter- (because Jedi is a grinders prof).
I don't want to Master BH because I want to Hunt Jedi every now and again and EVERYONE knows that ranged profs get owned by Jedi.
My idea-
A wookie-
Master TwoHanded Swords
BH 3 0 0 0
Rifleman 4 0 0 4
I know this leaves a bit to be desired on Defense- Especially with the coice of being a Wookie BUT this character can wreak havoc on your mind pool.
I've created a character like this on the anything goes server and like it- But I'm wondering if I chose the right trees of Rifleman.
I've heard that "If you ain't a master you ain't sh1t"- is this true?
Also maybe I shouldn't choose a Wookie but I wanted to be able to use that crossbow. And I dig their helms- but maybe I should consider another race (bothan?).
Thoughts? Flames? Threats to my well being?

In the current state of the game I don't think Riflemen is the right prof to hunt jedi with. Not sure If I'd go with a wookie either. Try fencer/BH if you want to kill some jedi.

Anything less then master is a waste of sp. Also have fun getting like 85% of your shots blocked by jedi. Ranged just sucks for hunting jedi.

The reason everyone says that you need master is because the +20 speed at master is a pretty amazing bonus.
If you pick up FS melee speed (And eventually FS ranged speed when it is fixed) you'll actually be doing quite well with 4004...as far as hitting the mind pool. With an additional +7 in rifle speed attachments you'd be speed-capped on headshot3. You won't have many other useful rifle shots though, kind of a 1-trick pony if you get my drift. Still, not as gimped as many here will tell you.

When hunting jedi, the only time your rifle skills will help you is when you get jumped by his lacky's. Master Riflemen that capped and have accuracy enhancements still can't hold up to a jedi and there is a huge difference between a master rifleman and a non-master. I would suggest in picking up some medic or maybe the mystic line of TKA. Maybe even some pistol or fencer defences. But a non-master pulling out a rifle on a jedi is pretty much suicide.

jedi deflect too much, so hunting jedi with a ranged isn't that great
tkm is very good agaist jedi however

The +20 speed from MR is the most obvious advantage to mastering Rifleman, but the fact that 25% of your accuracy is there too(and 100% of your accuracy while moving) counts for a lot. Especially with how good Jedi are with Block.

hmmm interesting template... with that you would get the duel mind damage and with the correct rifle and SEA's you could speed cap...
the wookie bowcaster sucks for anything other than RP value, and you need to find a wookie MWS to make one for ya...
since swords will be your main focus with the toon try a Rodian +10 2-hand accuracy (every lil bit helps against jedi or defence stackers)...
if it were me i'd go with BH pistols, and one line of pistoleer... or BH carnbines and one line of carbineer... they both have KD's... but remember jedi forcerun beat all...
the only positive i see with a wookie is the /wookieroar aka free warcry1...
and on a side note, what content do smugglers have??? they can play dead (priceless), make spice (worthless), learn the twilkie head talk (YAY, last time i saw that used was 8 months ago)... sell FP (its a once in a blue moon thing for me), and slice (welcome to /tellhell with your tag on)... we don't smuggle anything, been waiting for a promised revamp for over a year now... oh yes we can expariment on our spice and tools which has 0 effect on the outcomes... /rant off

Rifleman are not equiped to kill jedi...
i was doing some testing the other night with a jedi friend and found that even with master rifleman i cannot harm a jedi unless i'm at ideal range. As a BH hunting jedi, you will be basically be toe to toe with the jedi(unless he's running
), so this makes rifleman an extremly poor choice because if you can't damage them very well when you are hitting 99% of the time at ideal range, then you aren't going to be able to damage them when your toe to toe with them and not hitting them most of the time.
If i were you i might think about taking up some TKA rather than the 4004 in rifles. Yes... you wont be able to have as much TK, but 4004 rifles is worthless... and even 0004 tka has some use.

Huh... Rifleman is only good as master... if you don't got master you could just give it up.

I have known of 2 Riflemen that PvP with 4004 Riflemen and consistantly win. They both shared a 25+ speed, 25+ accuracy belt giving them the speed of a master + 5. It's not a totally worthless combo, but I would agree that for the normal person, MRifles is the way to go.
