Thread: Conceal Shot Nerfed?

I haven't used this skill in a while, because I have mastered TKA to do some close in damage for certain things, and thinking about doing Swordsman now instead, because they seem to be the true Damage Dealer of this game right now. But, I was goofing off around night sister land, and saw an elder, and since they have 100% to kinetic, and only like 20% to energy, I decided to pull out my T-21 and conceal shot it to death. Well, for like 5 or 6 shots it worked, and I still had 3 or 4 "conceal shots" in my command list, it agro'd on me and started running to me. Now, everyone knows if you're just plain Rifleman, you're pretty much dead now, but I have 4/4/4/0 of medic as well, so was doing all right till a spellweaver agro'd me too.

Well, long story short, is conceal shot now nerfed?

And if yes, then why'd they do that?

You run the risk of aggroing with any shot, even conceal, because the random bleed factor is there. This seems especially true with high end mobs. So conceal shot is not nerfed, it's working fine. What I find works is to not shoot too many tmes in succession. Hit a target once or twice, pause, hit once or twice again, pause. This has worked for me well, I've soloed rancor lairs without an aggro using this technique, though I do cause a bleed and aggro, even with this at times.

I was hunting elders just a couple nights ago w/conceal shot and had no problems w/agro, didn't have to pause or anything. I have, however, had a couple experiences in my short rifleman career where conceal shot seems to agro a mob with no apparent reason (did not miss, did not stick a bleed). I can understand that happening once in a while.

Well, that's good at least, so it's just some annoyance. Thanks.

I'd say it was an aggro for aggro's sake. Unless you're /concealed NPC's are still going to aggro you for getting too close, not because you're plugging them with blaster bolts. I've had my /conceal or /maskscent wear off while plunking away and had every critter around me aggro me while my target quietly got killed.

have you ever paid attention to your target's status while you were killing it? Every now and then, regardless of whether you use a bleeding attack (like mindshot), a small 1str bleed will stick. When this bleed ticks, the target will aggro the player who laid the bleed, regardless of whether said player is undercover, concealing, etc.

whether these bleeds are a strange bug, or whether they were put in specifically to make conceal unreliable I couldn't tell you, although my guess would be the latter.
