Merr-Sonn SX-451 Heavy Sniper Rifle
The Merr-Sonn SX-451 Heavy Sniper Rifle is one of the premier heavy sniper rifles on the market today. It is closer to a piece of light artilery than it is to a personal weapon. The mission of the SX-451 is to destroy material, vehicles and crew-served weapons from a distance, usually outside of the enemy's perimeter. It is also being used by law enforcement authorities to neutralize armed criminals who are hiding behind cover capable of stopping a lesser shot, to destroy explosive devices where they lay and to disable a felon's escape vehicle.
Having the range and power of the famous BlasTech E-Web heavy repeating blaster, the SX-451 is not a small weapon. It is nearly two meters long and 15 kilograms in weight, making it unsuitable for all but a few specialized missions.
For transportability, the rifle breaks down into four pieces (barrel and scope, bipod, action and stock) and packs into a case or a specially-built packframe. Reassembly takes about a minute, with no special tools (just a credit chip, screwdriver or other similar tool). The scope is built under license from BlasTech, as it utilizes the thermal, ultraviolet and passive light enhancement composite image systems normally found on such weapons as the Sharpshooter V and the AT-1 rifles, while improving on the haze and smoke filters. Unfortunately, due to the power, the capacitors in the trigger group must be quite powerful, but compact for portability. The trade off with this is a 20 second recharge time on the firing mechanism.

Prax Arms Model AFD-43 "Sniper" Blaster Rifle
The Prax Arms Model AFD-43 "Sniper" Blaster Rifle is a unique model of blaster rifle. The one feature that makes it unique is the way gas is compressed through a manually-controlled pumping system. Even though pumping the gas helps increase the rifle's damaging power and range, the requirement reduces its rate of fire to one shot every 5-7 seconds on average and doubles the amount of power pack energy used per shot.
The pumping action slowly increases the amount of damage for each shot. At the same time, each action used to pump increases the range increment by 2 meters to a maximum of 40 meters. Three attack actions is the maximum amount of time that can be spent pumping; any more will cause the rifle to explode. Once two actions are spent pumping, the amount of energy used for the shot is doubled.
The "Sniper" is 1.1 meters in length and comes with a fixed stock and mounting for a scope. The power pack, normally able to provide energy for 15 shots, is housed in front of the trigger guard. Accessories available for the "Sniper" from Prax are a bipod and a special sight, both of which are available for 250 credits each. Use of the bipod grants the wielder a bonus of +2 to hit. The sight zooms in on the target and increases accuracy (raise the range increment by 2 meters) when it used for one round to help aim.

SoroSuub EZ-Snap 48sR Sniper Blaster Rifle
Designed with sales to the Empire in mind, the SoroSuub EZ-Snap 48sR Sniper Blaster Rifle is a very high quality rifle with an exceptional level of inherent accuracy. Using a ground breaking ion sheath for increased bolt cohesion, the 48sR has a range and power on target superior to that of most blasters. The ion sheath creates the unexpected bonus of marginally improving the blaster's performance against ray shielding.
The 48sR also utilizes an active targeting system to further improve each shot's accuracy (+4 to hit when aiming). Because it is an active system, it can be easily detected by most passive light enhancement and sensor systems.

SoroSuub X-45 "Sniper" Blaster Rifle
The SoroSuub X-45 "Sniper" Blaster Rifle is the result of the company's attempts to make an economical precision rifle. The weapon is considered pitiful at best by most races throughout the galaxy. The stock is too short for anyone except Sullustans, Jawas or any other race of similar size. The rifle has no provision for mounting a bipod, has poor ergonomics and a laughable range when compared to other rifles of like power. On top of all that, the scope is of a generation of electrical image enhancement that predates the first skirmishes of the Clone Wars.
The X-45 is often sold as a sporting weapon (along with slip-on stock extensions, which can be purchased from SoroSuub) and sees usage only among the most desperate private military units

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I would like to add one last thing: When proposing new changes/additions to Rifleman, keep in mind that we do not want to 'overload' the Rifleman tree(in weaponryand/or skills/abilities). If we try too hard to makeourselves more of sniper than we are(especially since the system does not allow for it to be done effectively
), we may end up sacrificing too many of our non-sniper elements. The alternative would be to simply add everything and completely overpower us, but I do not think that has any chance of happening.
Ideally, I think that upon reaching Rifles IV in Marksman, you then choose to become a Sniper or a Rifleman. Doing both would be possible, but require the standard 63 skill points per tree(155 points to master both). Since this is extremely unlikely(though it would be very nice
), we will probably have to settle for adding 1-2 'sniper rifles' and very few(though some) sniper skills/abilities.
No matter how much of a hybrid we are, we should not just have more in our tree than any other elite profession has in theirs. Especially if we are able to 'dabble' as other elites can. If we are still not allowed to do so after the revamp(I am almost certain we will be), we may be able to work in a couple extra skills to compensate, but nothing too complex.
That's all I have to say for now. I know it's a lot and I apologize for that
, but I think it's important we do this revamp correctly just once instead of spending months to fix what went wrong because we tried to do too much. I just fear we may not be the same profession at all when this is done- whichwould likelyforce me to find some other profession I like just as much.
I do not want to do that ![]()
