Thread: Try Two-Hand Sword II (Low Level Rifleman Advice)

I have Two-Hand Sword II in the Brawler tree, which takes all of 10 whole minutes of work to achieve.

This gives you TwoHand Headhit 1, and the 2H Curved Sword cert, and only takes 20 SP. So if you know you want to be a rifleman and have a little extra SP but don't want a commitment to a profession, it's an excellent sidearm.

When an enemy gets in close, whether through teleporting or perhaps one you didn't see, pull out the sword and spam 2H-headhit. You can easily do 400-900 mind damage every couple seconds with the curved sword (mine is from MadarCo) and the HAM costs are very low. Having never used melee before, I was very impressed with it.

This is has saved me in quite a few situations where an aggro-mob 'popped' in on the screen and starting coming after me. It's also a nice way to finish up some creatures after a MS or HS and saves on HAM. I know in some of those situation if I didn't have this melee skill (even such a low level one) I would have died for sure.

So if you have the extra 20 SP, and the money for a good sword and get it sliced for damamge/speed, either one, (don't settle for a cheap bazaar one either), try this out as a backup weapon that does great mind damamge, without having to make any commitments.

Or master the profession and put dents in the heads of whatever comes near you with your handy Power Hammer

Like you said though, good ideaeven if you don't want to spend the skillpoints mastering sword.

Oh, I"one swing" killed a stormtrooper today. But of course there was a rifle in his hands, lol. After I rocked him I thought, "**edit**, I know how that feels."

Yes 2Hsword is very good, because it is easy to get a mind attack, but if you plan on keeping a melee skill after Mastering Rifleman, nothing compares to TKA.

Go Creature Handler instead. You can get the scout XP you need in about 2 nights on Dantooine if you're in a good picket/bol hunting party.

Send the pet in and blast away with your rifle. This will let you get continuous rifle XP during fights and you can get good use out of your AE attacks because social mobs will all surround your pet. At higher CH levels you can send ina rancor to tank 4 pickets at a time and just stand back and blast away with your rifle.

I went swordsman, but wish I'd gone CH. Swords are fun, but creatures are a lot more practical. They add a lot, especially in PvP, and they tank better than swordsmen anyway.

Well I merely suggested 2h sword II as a quick sidearm that doesn't take any investment of SP or time. It helps a lot at lower levels. CH and swordsman are more of a long term character template, whereas I was saying pick up a couple skills that you can drop any time you need the SP without losing too much.

Changes are coming to themelee classes, Pecos. Devs want them to be the "tanks." Just a friendly reminder 'cause I don't want you to regret putting down your sword.
