Thread: Possible range extention?

We all know that rifle optimum range is shortand pistol is large, and everyone willrun tomelee range so we cant hit them so what should rifles be able to do for balance?


How about this.... You extend the range of rifles to85m BUT you need to be undercover to shoot past 64. This should prevent exploitiers form running away while firing at over 64 so others cant fire back...This will give us one extra attack or so than before. ALSO makes cover do somthing...


I dont know if there is the hard cap at 64 but if turrents can be 70 (which would have to be raised if this came into effect) then why not this...


What your guys ideas?

Sounds like a good idea on paper. I was thinking about this last night, trying to think of a way it could be exploited, yet to find one.


The trouble is I expect this would mean looking at all rifles to up the range to 80 (or whatever) and then fixing accuracy, sounds like a lot of work.


But I don't think it would ever get past the whines of other classes, you'd see pistoleers / BH saying it wasn't fair, that they should be able to shoot to 80m too.

Simply up the range on a Rifle to at least 128m ( I like the idea about being under cover at that range), optimal at ~120, and proportionately decrease the mods from there both ways, varied depending on the particular rifle.


Then up the ranges on Carbs to 75m, but effectiveness remains the same.


Then keep pistols where they are at.



May not be fair at range, but anyone could still easily run up to us by the 5th shot, and melee us to hell. Besides, it is the point of being a rifleman, isn't it?


Also LLC's would be included for the range mod, so no argument from BH's there (opt rng maybe at 80m).


I jsut don't think they really can do this too easily within the boundries of the client v. server relationship.


70m just doesn't cut the mustard with a rifle... anyone can still run up to you within 3 sec. If it gets increased at all, it should be a significant increase.

Does anyone else wish they had one of those stress relief balls but in the likeness of Raph Koster? I would have bought the collectors edition for that.

In fact i dont really need the range much past 64... In pvp we will get one shot thatwill not be auto attacked on do to distance(THAT IS HUGE).. I could live with the 3 second delay if we had the distance others dont, and our dmg will be increased too...


In PvE this gives us a bit more time to get up and run if its a melee mob hehe.

I believe the tange should be extended. Pistols in real life are not good past 20 meters, most of them arn't. Rifles however are. You can easily nail a target from 500meters with an m16a2 rifle. When i sw the range on rifles in this gmae i was horridly shocked! Someone seriosuly need to do research! The whole point about being able to be a sniper is to shoot targets from long ranges, without them catching onto where you are. This is what makes snipers so freaking deadly in combat in real life.
