Thread: 64 meters for Rifleman is Silly

I doubt the game engine can go beyond 64 meters, but make the rifle at least a fair distance farther than a pistol or carbine.



Honestly it should be at least 100 meters.

Aye, i know i atleast can in real life, shoot and hit targets at over 200 meters. Perhaps add a better range mod when you climb the rifle tree, since our weapons are slow we need that extra range.

I agree but they cant extend the range past 64 for a few reasons, one is to prevent exploiting of rifleman but others are also coding problems....

I understand this is a coding issue, but it makes the concept of Rifleman completely ill-fated.


With a rifle, I can't hit a target very well IRL at 200m or below to 50m, but at 500m I'm deadly accurate, 9/10 times.

Does anyone else wish they had one of those stress relief balls but in the likeness of Raph Koster? I would have bought the collectors edition for that.

I couldn't agree more. The Rifle range should be increased beyond 64m to at least 85 or 100.

Not to say that I am or wasa sniper in real life, I was in the Usmc for 4 years.


We shot m16a2 rifles at up to 500 yards with open sights (no scope) to qualify at our rifle range.


I believe if my memory serves me correct the actualy sniper range for the usmc had targets in the area of 1500 yards. Although snipers do use 2 man teams to hit the most extreme ranges to calculate factors like wind ect....


I realize rifleman will never shoot that far in this game but there is no way that a pistol should have equal range hehe.

If they can't increase our max range, they need to make us much more accurate or more damaging at 64m. Being prone at 64m with a rifle should be one of the most powerful single shot hits in the game. That of course is balanced by our slower speed.

I dont think its a coding problem, i seem to recal there a few "faction" items in game that have a longer range than the 64. Something like 70-75 mabe? but deffinatly over the "range line" of 64.


imho


pistol up to 44m (short range sweet spot maintianed)


carbide up to 64m (no change either)


rifle up to 84m (put the sweet spot some where around 70m)



this would be best case scinerio for me. mabe make it gun specific? laser rifle/t21 70m ranging down to spraystick being 44m. The even ranges across the board for the different classes is just not really true to form, as my felow riflemen have detailed above, so i wont go into any more detale on that.

They need to work on fixing your range Modifiers. I know Rifleman in my guild can put down a world of hurt. you guys seem to have one of only cones that works a lot. (strafe shot 2) but the amount they miss is really bad

200 meters, put an m16a2 in my hands and I can peg a target no scope from 500 meters. now I am not saying let rifles haev that range for i can see the serious unbalanceing effect. But there is defintly a need for range extention.
