Thread: Seeing the whole picture A rifleman overview
BAH...that sucked, lets try again. Here's my take on the whole rifleman picture at teh moment, and my 6 top issues, why they need to be changed, and how to change them.
1) Rifle vs. Pistol accuracy- we'll start with this since it appears to be the biggest issue on everyone's mind. My suggestion for improving the current system, is taking the accuracy modifiers to an extreme. I suggest keeping the ideal ranges on the weapons where they are, however, for pistol and rifle imposing a more extreme system, while keeping carbine down the middle road.
Rifle- 2x accuracy bonus when over ideal range, 1/2 accuracy penalty while under ideal range. Carbine- Keep carbine the same, since it is a middle range weapon. Pistol- 1/2 accuracy penalty while over ideal range, x2 accuracy bonus when over ideal range.
Therefore, the end range chart would look something like this. The ll symbolizes ideal range.
Rifle: l+++++ll+++- - - -l Carbine: l- - ++++ll++++- -l Pistol: l- - - -+++ll+++++l
This system would make MUCH more sense for class and weapon balance.
2) Double rifle melee damage
I have seen other suggest this, and I am ALL in favor of this change
Standing- no damage penalty Kneeling- x1.5 damage Prone- x2 damage
3) Startle Shot- I believe that rifleman should have 1 area of effect mind attack. Due to the fact that it is the riflemans primary damage type, and that most rifleman are instead using attacks that damage health in pvp, I believe that rifleman needs more mind attacks. I believe startle shot would be the easiest to fill this role as it has the most to do with the mind. That way the rifleman class would have 2 more mind attacks, and one that is aoe.
4) Knockdown- I will not call for something rediculous like knockdown to be taken out of the game, however I do feel that people should recieve +25 defense against knockdown while kneeling, and +50 defense against knockdown while prone. Also, i think knockdown should have a maximum range of 32 meters, and possibly a 10-15 second timer to prevent repeated use. This way, pistoleers still get their knockdown, but it isnt hopeless for the person hit by it.
5) I have heard about the T21 being broken, we dont have T21s on Gorath yet, so this isnt an issue for me, but it is an issue for riflemen.
6) Prone/Take Cover- There are lots of problems with take cover, and lots of easy ways to fix it, so i wont go into that now, one thing that does bother me however is when you attack a group of enemies who are BAF the specific enemy you attack from prone/cover doesnt know where you are, and wanders around for a few seconds looking before charging, but all of his friends charge immediately at you...this is both disturbing, and unrealistic and needs to be fixed.
