Thread: Spent the whole evening testing various things(all sorts of combat stuff)

Things that I found, and I spent a good couple hours testing this with a master pistoleer/smuggler friend of mine:

The accuracy thing we have been complaining about, pistol versus rifle accuracy, seems slightly overblown.

The summary(for all testing newbie CDEfs were used with the same exact damage-- important they had the same damage to test if ranged defense even did anything. It doesn't seem to do ANYTHING. It neither lowers your chance to be hit nor does it mitigate a set amount of damage:

We both had equal accuracy at both near-point blank range (~6m) and very long range(~60m) with BOTH specials and regular attacks. Both of our regular attacks had slightly over 50% hit rates and both of our specials had over 80%. However accuracy being minimally different, it appears there is a definite damage reduction for the rifle at closer range, no comparable/noticable one on the pistol.

Knockdowns:

Knockdowns either don't work or they CAN be resisted, I cannot fully prove that these were just failed knockdowns or actually resisted. My character only has 20 knockdown resist and 30 postiton chance, 50ish combat equilibrium. Some test runs I was resisting about 20% of the knockdowns, other times i was close to. My partner resisted a little under 30%. This leads me to believe that the knockdown resist is actually a % and probably caps asoft caps at 50%These knockdowns were all the low blow, DA2, UA1, and UA2. Now, when I say "resist" I just mean knockdown didn't work. I have no idea if it just didn't work or did in fact resist the attack, again. But, we tested it for a short while on a passerby and they were a complete artisan, no combat skills, and he never resisted one knockdown in twenty shots. This leads me to believe that knockdown is indeed a flat percent, that probably soft caps somewhere near 50...

For smugglers out there: Panic shot was very odd.. 50% of the time the first panic shot was not registering as a panic shot? Other than that it was never resisted/failed.

50% greater damage on knockdown'd people. This wasn't working when we tested it with CDEFs. Not working at all.

Combat equilibrium seems to do nothing(TKA skill that's suppose to allow you to instantly recover from effects like blindess, knockdown, dizzy near instantly)

Dodge works, counterattack works, block doesn't work(definite rifleman complaint). Although it should be noted that these skills rarely work to begin with.

One confounding variable was in this testing. In that I'm writing melee/ranged defense off as not doing anything, I might be commiting a grave error. It could very well be pistol have a greater accuracy and my defense were what was making it seem relatively equal.
