Thread: Best Idea for Concealment Tactics omg please read...
Its a great idea, I was taling with a Commando about it and he thought it would really even things out allowing us a fighting chance. Yeah even if our correspondant suggested it the devs would say **edit** no.
We still have one shot 0-0.... what gun besides a pre nerf T21 cuz Starsider doesn't have that.
"Laser Rifles have always had the capability to one shot. Get a good one get it sliced for damage with a power up and you will have no problem landing SS2's over 1000 "
Ya, but you'll also have no problem landing ss2's for under 100. Most combatprofessions still have the ability to one-shot people. That shouldn't be an excuse to keep them from fixing our class.
And giving us the ability to hide is fixing our class? Please.
Take a secound and think about how this would effect balance.
I don't know if this idea was taken from one of my posts, but for a long time I had suggested the idea of a skill/ability in the concealment line which would allow a Rifleman to become invisible on radar ONLY. This would give a Rifleman a needed edge in battle. Yet once the Rifleman attacked they would become visible on radar and could not use the ability again until they were out of combat for over a minute.
This would not be overpowering because of the fact that It can only be used for the first shot, plus you are always visible to the naked eye and not truely invisible (like in DAOC, gag). You would still have to use your brains and use the terrain and tactics to be successful.
I don't know what some of you are talking about either, but I am a master rifleman and have a laser rifle made from some of the best materials. Its also sliced (increased damage) and I use powerups. And I can tell you now I have NEVER one shot someone with any of my specials since the 75% pvp damage cut. Sure maybe someone who is stupid enough to be overt and have only 300 mind or something. But that is so extremely rare I still say "never". I think the most damage I have ever hit with my laser rifle in pvp recently was a little over 500 damage.
I personally think it would be a great addition and put the Rifleman in its proper place as the sniper of SWG. Rifleman need more "sniper" abilities and currently the Rifleman is nothing of the sort. This ability would actually promote more strategy and tactical thinking than anything else.
And as I have said in my other threads, Rifleman (in my personal opinion) should be the kings of precision heavy damage. I still don't understand why in the nine hells we have so many AE (area effect) special attacks. The profession that should have the most AE attacks than anyone else I would think would be the Commando's. They should be the master of massive battles. Rifleman should be the masters of taking single targets out in the fewest amount of shots necessary. I would love to see Rifleman get their pre nerf T21's back...maybe a few of the AE effects on some of their specials taken away, and the radar stealth ability added.
As long as there is a Radar that shows everyone, everywere around you there is no potential and freedom to use stealth tactics. Having this ability as I have said so many times (laugh) would promote the use of such tactics and would not be too overpowering. I would challege the Devs to just consider it and even test it on the test server to find out for themselves. The Rifleman need changes to bring them into their place in SWG...and an ability such as this would be a great start.

First off that you can not one shot someone is meaningless, people have stated on this board that they have, our corespondent being one. That they can proves my statement correct. Looking at your post the reason you dont ever land a one shot kill is because you choice of specials.
Looking deeper in your post you think we should be given our old T21 back, given stealth, and in return we lose our AE's. So basicly you are saying "I dont like how you setup thisprofession SOEso change it". Well guess what I like my AE's I picked this profession for the AE's and I would be damned to sit quitlywhile some n00b wants to make a drastic change to obvious advantages our profession has because he wants to be a sniper.
I have stated over and over that the uneducated fools that post on this board will nerf our profession and Shazrak's post is proof. He wants to change the rules of the game half way through to satisfy his wants and desires. In the end our profession would not even be the same one I decided to level all because someone wanted to be the uber sniper, F that.
Silverlobo,
I have kept up with most of your replies to others topics and I have a question? If a majority of the class feels there is a problem, should they cater to your desire to leave the profession where it is because you are happy? Instead of coming up with viable solutions to their concerns you consistently berate them and express your opinion that they are uninformed because they are not master level. Most of the people playing the profession are not Master level and are not concerned if something they suggest discomfits you. I for one am happy that you feel you are more than capable of handling whatever comes your way. Bravo to you. But, I also realise that you mastered your profession without being under the same penalties that most of the other riflemen are dealing with now.
Master-centric viewpoints will only get you so far when dealing with the majority. Calling people noobs, idiots or anything else enflammintory will not make you seem more enlightened as to the state of the profession. It will only make you seem callus and self-centered. Either come up with solutions that benefit the whole of the profession and not just you at master level or start your own counter-argument threads. I'm sure I'm not the only one getting tired of hearing you rant about how you and your friends are the only ones that seem to know how riflemen should really be. One thing to concider (i'm sure I am probably off base on this) If someone lives with something they hate long enough with the idea that nothing will ever change, they can often delude themselves into believing that everything is ok as a way to deal with their frustration. The "Whistling-In-The-Dark" syndrome.
Tsalmaveth I have never come to Silverlobo's defense, he's capable of defending himself but...
Issues such as "range" and "stealth" affect our whole profession, how is that master-centric? It's not, you are making biased accusations which does not lead to logical arguments.
And if you agree that master riflemen can one shot, than what you're really saying is you'd rather be here whining than in the game earning the ability, or should all novice combat classes be one shotting?
If the 'majority' of our class wants changesthen that is something to consider, but the 'majority' of players care nothing for game balance, and it's those people Silverlobo seems to bash, nothing to do withmaster/novice issues.
