Thread: master DOC/Rifleman or Fencer/Rifleman ?
If you would like to welcome every single PVP person in your galaxy, combine sharpshooter with combat medic. I did, and the cheers for joy at the sight of me on the battle field is overwhelming.
All kidding aside, CM has made my group hunting with my guild mates much more enjoyable. My rifle works best at range, but those pesky TKM's want to get up close an personal. Given I have CM skills, I can lob a heal their way and stay at range. It works great for everyone.
And then when the raiding starts, well I'm sure you are aware of the awesome power a CM can wield (if they live long enough). Combine that power with some solid ranged self defense (aka my trusty T21 or Jawa), and life, my friend, is indeed good.
Now, my choice of these 2 professions came about in a very strange way. I was a novice doctor and novice dancer. I wanted to give up one of the "healing" professions, and wanted to try combat. Rifle seemed like a challenge and I didn't know a single master, so I picked rifle. A few more skill boxes into doctor, I realized the only skill I was using was my medic skills of healing, since my guild had a master doctor doing buffs, so I switched over to Combat Medic. I thought, "this'll be a good combo, since CM's can cure minds, and rifle uses minds, I'll be set nicely". Of course, CM's can cure other people's minds, just not their own, so chalk that up to poor research.
At any rate, the combo has been fun for me. I do miss not being able to buff and rez. But area healing from a distance makes the rifle part of the game more fun, as I'm engaged with the enemy and actually shooting, far more now than I was as a doctor, running around to each person (who invariably would run away from me) trying to throw down a heal from 6m.
